Last month, Kentucky Sound Stage, 5333 Frederica St., brought Dustin Matteson\u2019s Pop Up Comedy Club to town to see if comedy could attract an audience.<\/p>\n
Matteson said it definitely did.<\/p>\n
And shows are planned on the second Friday of each month at the former movie theater, he said.<\/p>\n
The next show will be at 8 p.m. on Nov. 14.<\/p>\n
It features regional comics Chuck Litchfield, Dustin Stephens, Ryan Likens and Ken Ray.<\/p>\n
Andy Imlay of Boonville is the featured act.<\/p>\n
His Facebook page says he has been turning obstacles into punchlines for more than a decade.<\/p>\n
Imlay, who was born in Owensboro, has cerebral palsy.<\/p>\n
He calls himself the \u201cComedian on Wheels\u201d and the \u201cWheelchair Warrior.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a really good comedian,\u201d Matteson said.<\/p>\n
Imlay has opened for such acts as Cledus T. Judd, and America\u2019s Got Talent winner Richard Goodall.<\/p>\n
He also performed at OMG!con in Owensboro in June.<\/p>\n
Tickets are $15.<\/p>\n
Matteson said, \u201cWe had a great turnout for the first show. The performers were really good. People really enjoyed it. We got good feedback from the crowd.\u201d<\/p>\n
Last month\u2019s show was rated G.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis one will be PG,\u201d Matteson said. \u201cThat\u2019s where we\u2019ll stay. We\u2019re not going to the other end of the spectrum.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the owners of the Kentucky Sound Stage, which is used to film movies and television shows, are booking live entertainment because they \u201cwant to show that it\u2019s an event space, not just for filming for TV and movies.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Sound Stage has two theaters for live shows, Matteson said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
