November is somewhat the unofficial start to this season with Thanksgiving and Black Friday toward the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>There is plenty else to do in Columbia, though, in the lead-up to that holiday. Here&#8217;s a smattering of happenings for November which may interest area residents.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2 wp-block-heading\">Concerts and other performances<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Rose Music Hall<\/strong> at 1013 Park Ave. is taking things indoors now that the colder seasons are here. The <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/rosemusichall.com\/calendar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">calendar has a full slate<\/a>, and some highlights include Kolton Moore and the Clever Few on Nov. 1; The Burney Sisters CD release party Nov. 9; Etana and The Full Circle Band on Nov. 15; and David Wax Museum + The Onions on Nov. 28.<\/p>\n<p>Sister venue <strong>The Blue Note<\/strong> at 17 N. Ninth St. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thebluenote.com\/calendar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">starts the month<\/a> with a Dio De Los Muertos celebration with music from Jonny Fuzion and VIP3R. Other notable events are Talib Kweli with DJ Requiem, Damoe Donjuan and Reaceyung on Nov. 7; Shakey Graves with Clover County on Nov. 12; and JUMP \u2013 America\u2019s Van Halen Experience on Nov. 22. The Blue Note also hosts stand-up comics as part of Como Comedy Club nights. This month&#8217;s acts are Anjelah Johnson-Reyes with Mal Hall on Nov. 13 and Beth Stelling on Nov. 16.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"390\" outstream=\"\"\/><partner-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" class=\"spacer-large\" placement=\"native-article_link\" sizes=\"[[300, 250], [3, 3]]\" min-height=\"250\" fluid=\"\" outstream=\"\"\/>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cectheatre.org\/tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tickets still were available<\/a> as of Oct. 29 for <strong>Columbia Entertainment Company<\/strong>&#8216;s production of &#8220;Richard O&#8217;Brien&#8217;s The Rocky Horror Show.&#8221; Shows are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1; 2 p.m. Nov. 2; 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6, 7 and 8; and 2 p.m. Nov. 9, at 1800 Nelwood Drive.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Missouri will take guests &#8220;Into the Woods&#8221; at the <strong>Rhynsburger Theatre<\/strong> at 505 Hitt Street. The musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/theatre.missouri.edu\/news\/mizzou-theatres-fall-2025-line\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">presents fairy tale stories<\/a> and ponders what happens after &#8220;happily ever after.&#8221; Performances are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6, 7 and 8; 2 p.m. Nov. 9; 7:30 Nov. 13, 14 and 15; and 2 p.m. Nov. 16.<\/p>\n<partner-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" placement=\"native-article_link\" sizes=\"[[300, 250], [3, 3]]\" min-height=\"250\" fluid=\"\" outstream=\"\"\/><cta-atoms-container-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/cta\" class=\"spacer-large\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Mizzou&#8217;s <strong>University Concert Series<\/strong> will <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mizzouarts.missouri.edu\/events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hold two events in November<\/a>. ABT Studio Company, the junior company of American Ballet Theatre, featuring rising stars of the ballet world will perform 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Jesse Auditorium at 501-541 S. 9th St. Dr. Andre Thomas will conduct 250 singers and a full orchestra 7 p.m. Nov. 20 at Jesse Auditorium for the Fall Choral Union Concert.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2 wp-block-heading\">Sales, events, lectures and more<\/h2>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/columbiaartleague.org\/fia-about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Columbia Art League<\/a> doesn&#8217;t just stop at summer and Art in the Park to celebrate and showcase area artists and craftspeople. <strong>Fall into Art<\/strong> is a two-day festival featuring a &#8220;diverse selection of exceptional artisans and small businesses, focusing on handmade, made-in-the-US, non-perishable products.&#8221; Vendors are selected by a CAL committee. Visit the Wyndham Executive Center (formerly Holiday Inn Expo Center) 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 1 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 2 at 2200 Interstate 70 Dr SW for the event. The event is free, but there is a suggested $2 donation.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"600\" outstream=\"\" momentum=\"\"\/>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cwsgcomo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Columbia Weavers and Spinners Guild<\/a> will hold a <strong>Holiday Exhibition and Sale<\/strong> 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 7 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at the American Legion building at 3669 Legion Lane. Handmade fiber arts including towels, scarves, hats, homespun yarn, home goods and more will be available. Demonstrations of weaving, spinning, knitting, crocheting, needle felting and more also will take place.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Holiday Shop Hop<\/strong> and downtown district <strong>horse-drawn carriage rides<\/strong> kicks off the holiday season for <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverthedistrict.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The District<\/a>. While the event lasts the day Nov. 1 starting at 9 a.m., carriage rides start 4 p.m. and the tree lighting is at 7 p.m. in front of in front of Serendipity Salon &amp; Gallery at 1020 E. Walnut St. Carriage rides start next to Serendipity and tickets for rides go fast. They are available every Saturday in November and Saturdays and Sundays in December through Dec. 21.<\/p>\n<partner-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" class=\"spacer-large\" placement=\"native-article_link\" sizes=\"[[300, 250], [3, 3]]\" min-height=\"250\" fluid=\"\" outstream=\"\"\/>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/centralmissouri.ja.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Junior Achievement in Central Missouri<\/a> will welcome <strong>Santa and Mrs. Claus for Merry Moments<\/strong> at Orr Street Studio 5-8 p.m. at 106 Orr St. Children who attend can get a free photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Cookies and cocoa will be available, children will have a chance to write letters to Santa and there will be a JA educational activity for the children.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/centralusa.salvationarmy.org\/midland\/columbia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Columbia Salvation Army<\/a> is the host for the city&#8217;s annual Christmas parade, fashioned as a <strong>Christmas Parade Against Poverty<\/strong>. The route goes down Broadway downtown and starts 3 p.m. Nov. 23.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"390\" outstream=\"\"\/>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.visitcolumbiamo.com\/event\/holiday-curated-crafted-created-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Columbia Mall will once again host<\/a> the <strong>Curated. Crafted. Created. Market<\/strong>, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 23 at 2300 Bernadette Drive. A flyer notes to come in the entrance next to Level Up Entertainment on the south side of the mall. More than 70 vendors will be available.<\/p>\n<p>Mizzou&#8217;s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/maa.missouri.edu\/exhibitions\/impressions-black-spirit-america\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Museum of Art and Archaeology<\/a> in Ellis Library at 520 S. Ninth St. will host the exhibition &#8220;<strong>Impressions: Black Spirit in America<\/strong>&#8221; through May 2026 and an opening reception is planned 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov 20 at the museum.<\/p>\n<p>Learn the history of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.comopreservation.org\/calendar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daniel Boone Regional Library<\/a> and specifically the Columbia branch with &#8220;<strong>Where in the World Has the Library Been? The Public Library Movement in Columbia<\/strong>&#8221; at 6-7:45 p.m. Nov. 18 from the Friends Room of the Columbia Public Library at 100 W. Broadway.
