The former prince is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/royal-family\/andrew-royal-title-queen-elizabeth-guiffre-payment-b2856221.html\" rel=\"follow\">facing scrutiny from the public and his own family<\/a> over his ties to paedophile financier <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/jeffrey-epstein\">Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> after the release of Virginia Giuffre\u2019s posthumous memoir.<\/p>\n<p>In Andrew\u2019s lease at Royal Lodge, it was agreed he would be paid a \u201ccompensatory sum\u201d if he were to move out of the 30-room mansion before 2078. The sum decreases by \u00a3185,865 a year until 2028 meaning by moving now, he would have been entitled to \u00a3558,000 from the Crown <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/estate\">Estate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, sources have admitted a \u201clot of work needs to be done\u201d to Royal Lodge, which Andrew was bound to maintain under the terms of his lease. One source told <em>The Telegraph<\/em> this could impact the compensation Andrew receives.<\/p>\n<p>The flat roof to the main structure is said to be in danger of collapse, according to the paper. He is set to be propped up financially by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/the-king\">the King<\/a>\u2019s private finances as he has no known source of income beyond a modest pension from his 22-year Royal Navy career.<\/p>\n<p>Buckingham Palace has said Andrew will move to Sandringham estate \u201cas soon as practicable\u201d &#8211; although it is thought this could mean not until after Christmas in a bid to avoid an awkward encounter with the rest of the family.<\/p>\n<p>Sandringham\u2019s vast surrounding estate includes 16,000 acres of farmland, 3,500 acres of woodland and 150 properties.
