Or<\/span><br \/>\n         <span class=\"MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none;\">at least good enough for enough of the time. Not to be confused with Bowie\u2019s <i>Rubber Band<\/i> or the Spinners <i>Rubberband Man<\/i> or Ti\u2019s <i>Rubber Band Man<\/i>. <\/p>\n<div class=\"my-11\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mumford &amp; Sons, Hozier - Rubber Band Man\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vLTwLkqPSAE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h2 class=\"m-0 text-heading-md -tracking-[0.0125rem] MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none\" data-test-ui=\"article__heading-2\"><b>Hellbent Heaven Sent<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none\"><b>by Courtnay and the Unholy Reverie<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none\">Opening with a John Lee Hooker\/George Thorogood riff, this tough-minded blues single from Taranaki\u2019s Courtnay Low and fellow travellers does some impressive shapeshifting with a hint of gospel, some flame-throwing guitar and then a sudden stop (to fool radio DJs?) before a furious closing minute. It seems to have universal appeal because he\u2019s played a sold-out show at the Royal Albert Hall and toured Europe and North America. Forthcoming shows in Auckland and Christchurch have sold out too so he\u2019s doing something right. This typically breezy song addresses bad habits and living life as if in a cyclone of emotions, not taking the time to think more clearly. There\u2019s a message in there. <\/p>\n<div class=\"my-11\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ziggy Alberts - Cyclones (Official Lyric Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2rdLDmzJrxY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h2 class=\"m-0 text-heading-md -tracking-[0.0125rem] MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none\" data-test-ui=\"article__heading-2\"><b>Gasoline\/Carnivore (Long March Through the Jazz Age)<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none\"><b>by The Saints<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none\">Not to be confused with recent tourists The Saints 1973-78 &#8212; lead by founder-Saints guitarist Ed Kuepper and drummer Ivor Hay &#8212; this is The Saints as the long-running vehicle for co-founder singer-songwriter Chris Bailey who died in 2022. Bailey was one of the great Australian singers and writers \u2013 but don\u2019t take our word for it, here\u2019s Nick Cave: \u201cThe Saints were Australia\u2019s greatest band and Chris Bailey was my favourite singer\u201d. After Kuepper and Hay left the original Saints, Bailey carried the name on and then through solo albums created an impressive, if rather overlooked, body of work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none\">Here recorded in Sydney a few years before his death \u2013 with longtime latter day Saints drummer Pete Wilkinson \u2013 Bailey is in fine form for the blues-rock of <i>Gasoline<\/i> where he moves into the same vocal space as Jagger\u2019s drawl, and on the simultaneously released <i>Carnivore (Long March Through the Jazz Age)<\/i> he\u2019s with horns and strings which were a feature in mid-period Saints and his solo work. It\u2019s a big dark ballad with a soaring vocal and Biblical references. The <i>Long March Through The Jazz Age<\/i> album is due November 28. These and the previous singles<i> Judas<\/i>, <i>Empires (Sometimes We Fall)<\/i> and <i>Break Away<\/i> are very convincing evidence that he hadn\u2019t lost his touch.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-11\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Carnivore (Long March Through the Jazz Age)\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kVVsGYGG5RA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h2 class=\"m-0 text-heading-md -tracking-[0.0125rem] MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none\" data-test-ui=\"article__heading-2\"><b>Ella Joy<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none\"><b>by Murphy Moore<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MbfQjTgmSESMkkDykl\" style=\"display:none\">The Southland-raised alt-country singer Moore singer celebrates her fun-loving sister who has \u201cfire in her veins\u201d in a wordy, energetic song which, oddly, doesn\u2019t deliver the joyous mood you\u2019d expect and sounds more serious than celebratory.
