Queen Elizabeth II took the throne when she was 25-years-old<\/a> and as she aged she remained respected and relative<\/a>, but it\u2019s not to say it\u2019s the same for all royals.<\/p>\n

Queen Elizabeth II<\/a> was the head of state, which may have played a role in public perception, but so is King Charles<\/a>, and his sons are deemed more popular than him<\/a> in terms of polls and coverage.<\/p>\n

Daily Express US spoke exclusively to Pauline Maclaran<\/a> about why this is with the royal author sharing her thoughts on the matter.<\/p>\n

Maclaran, co-author of Royal Fever<\/em> and Professor of Marketing and Consumer Research at Royal Holloway said: \u201cThe late Queen was regarded as everyone\u2019s favorite granny. She was not seen as a glamorous figure or even required to be one because of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cHer longevity insured her public\u2019s admiration and she represented stability and tradition. Other royals cannot really fill her place in this way.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If Prince William<\/a> and Princess Kate<\/a> are more popular than Charles<\/a> and Camilla<\/a>, it suggests the Wales children may one day outshine their parents, which we asked Maclaran about.<\/p>\n

The Royal Holloway professor said: \u201cIn turn, their children are likely to be the glamorous figures amongst their generation in 20 years time!\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cWe have to remember that even Charles was regarded as quite a glamorous playboy in his time.\u201d<\/p>\n

In terms of agism, the Royal Family<\/a> are not immune to it, but they may not feel the affects as strongly as the rest of us regular folks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they just continue their jobs regardless \u2013 they can\u2019t really be pushed out of their jobs even if interest in them becomes very fickle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, of course, their status, wealth and influence buffer them from any of the more harmful effects of ageism that many of their public experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
