X-Men<\/a> franchise vet Famke Janssen<\/a> has finally shared the reason why she won\u2019t be reprising Jean Grey in the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday<\/a><\/strong>. Janssen\u2019s version of the iconic Marvel character was last seen by fans in 2014\u2019s X-Men: Days of Future Past, where she made a surprising cameo at the end of the movie.<\/p>\n During a recent interview with EW, when asked about her potential debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Janssen opened up about the lasting impact of playing Jean Grey. She\u2019s fascinated by how the character really resonated with fans, even after over a decade since she last played her.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery time I do an interview, it\u2019s mentioned,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s interesting. I didn\u2019t realize that was such a big part. Every interview I do, that will come up, and of everything I say, that is going to be the only thing that\u2019s gonna be printed.\u201d<\/p>\n Janssen continued, \u201cI should be flattered, I suppose, that this character has resonated with people. It\u2019s been so long, but it\u2019s nice that people are still talking about her. I\u2019m sure every single time there\u2019s a new movie that they\u2019re doing, like [is it] Doomsday? . . . it\u2019ll come up again.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked if Marvel Studios had ever asked her to reprise Jean Grey, the Dutch actress admitted that she was never asked to join the MCU, shutting down any fan speculation about her return in Avengers: Doomsday. Janssen added, \u201cNever. Never ever.\u201d<\/p>\n Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by the Avengers: Endgame filmmakers, Joe and Anthony Russo, from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely. Despite Janssen\u2019s absence, the fifth installment will indeed feature multiple stars from Fox\u2019s X-Men franchise. These include Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
