Humberly Gonz\u00e1lez had a conversation with The Wayne Ayers Podcast<\/a>, which quickly became a\u00a0rollercoaster of laughter, horror, and heartfelt reflection. Between the dissection of the craziness in her new indie horror success, Match, and the teasing of what\u2019s to come in Season 4 of Ginny & Georgia, Humberly brought her class to the table.<\/p>\n Forget rehearsals. \u201cI booked \u2018Match\u2019 on Wednesday, and then I was shooting in South Africa four days later,\u201d Gonzalez admitted. \u201cI didn\u2019t even audition. I read the script once and couldn\u2019t put it down. It was twisted and fun.\u201d<\/p>\n But one decision catapulted her right into one of the craziest stretches of her career. \u201cThere was no table read, no warm-up, just fake blood, real screams, and none of us were chill,\u201d she said. \u201cMy first day on set was the part in the film where Paola barfs and tries to kill Henry.\u201d<\/p>\n When her fans pointed out that Paola was ignoring all the red flags possible, Gonzalez was in complete agreement. \u201cShe\u2019s just so flawed. She\u2019s ignoring red flags, pushing boundaries, and not trusting her gut. But that\u2019s the thing, she\u2019s relatable, and she\u2019s human.\u201d<\/p>\n However, audience members were also scream-crying at their televisions. \u201cShe could have saved her sister instead of worrying about some boy she just met,\u201d Wayne said jokingly, and Humberly chuckled in agreement. \u201cRight? But it\u2019s her storyline, how do you overcome such human habits even when faced with dire circumstances?\u201d<\/p>\n There was no shortage of jaw-droppers in \u201cMatch.\u201d \u201cThe bathroom scene, the roaches, the eyes in the elevator, people were hiding behind blankets,\u201d Humberly giggled. \u201cThey just keep ramping up. They\u2019re not doing ghosts, they\u2019re not doing demons. They\u2019re doing straight-up chaos.\u201d \u201cWhat the hell?!\u201d scenes were her own favorites, ordered up in her own personal \u201cgreatest hits\u201d album.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019ll tell me, \u2018Oh, I love watching their reactions as if it\u2019s part of the experience.\u2019 And you recommend it just to see them scream. \u2018It\u2019s a shared trauma experience.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n One of the themes was just a little too close to home. \u201cIt\u2019s definitely a very extreme way of saying, be careful,\u201d explained Humberly. \u201cDon\u2019t show up at someone\u2019s house. Don\u2019t take drinks from strangers. And a five-minute FaceTime call does not mean they\u2019re real. Especially with AI, please.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans knew her message got across. \u201cEveryone tells me they deleted their dating apps after watching \u2018Match,\u2019 \u201dshe laughed. \u201cMission accomplished!\u201d<\/p>\n Even with all the blood and the screams, Gonz\u00e1lez said playing \u201cMatch\u201d might be one of her favorite experiences, \u201cright up there with Star Trek and Star Wars.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s just neat to be in something if people talk about it,\u201d she said, hoping \u201cMatch\u201d might be one of the movies that crosses over into cult fame.<\/p>\n And yes, she is rooting for indie cinema. \u201cYou don\u2019t need 200 million dollars to tell a great story,\u201d she said. \u201cIndependent films take risks. You have the freedom. You get to play. That\u2019s real cinema,\u201d<\/p>\n Changing gears, Wayne was also asking when Season 4 of Ginny & Georgia will come out. Humberly remained silent but teased \u201cexciting new characters\u201d and \u201cbig cliffhangers.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans asking for a \u2018Sophie & Max\u2019 spin-off? Humberly hears you. \u201cI think they\u2019ll always have love for each other,\u201d she smiled. \u201cEven if they never officially get back together, they\u2019ll always be endgame in my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAll of my scenes with Sophie made the cut, which is very rare in television,\u201d she revealed. \u201cEverything I shot is in there. That never happens!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAfter years of continuous shootings, I am actually taking a break, but don\u2019t get me wrong, I\u2019m not slowing down,\u201d stated Gonz\u00e1lez. \u201cI have been acting professionally for ten years without stopping. And right now, I am training and intending to play an action role, superhero, military, anything physical.\u201d<\/p>\n What does her dream project look like? \u201cIt\u2019s to bring together an ensemble of Latino and Venezuelan actors in an action movie, Spanglish meets Marvel,\u201d she explained. \u201cI want to wear the supersuit!\u201d<\/p>\n Where would she love to guest star someday? \u201cWhite Lotus, obviously,\u201d she laughed. \u201cThey haven\u2019t done a Spanish-speaking country yet. Let\u2019s fix that.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked what she might be doing if she were not an actress, Humberly\u2019s face lit up. \u201cI would be teaching yoga or scuba diving in Costa Rica. I am just passionate about wellness, scuba diving, and living in close proximity to the ocean.\u201d<\/p>\n Celebrity crushes when she was growing up? \u201cJesse McCartney and Vanessa Hudgens,\u201d she revealed. \u201cAnd Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance.
