Characters take inspiration from all kinds of places like\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cracked.com\/article_47083_five-classic-sitcom-characters-based-on-other-classic-sitcom-characters.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Eric Cartman from\u00a0South Park was inspired by Archie Bunker from\u00a0All in the Family;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><span>Eric Cartman from\u00a0<i>South Park<\/i> was inspired by Archie Bunker from\u00a0<i>All in the Family<\/i><\/span><\/a><span>, something Matt Stone and Trey Parker have admitted. That said, Cartman is not an obvious Archie Bunker clone. That&#8217;s not the case, however, for these five comedic knock-offs.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>5 <\/label><span>Aunt Blabby <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span><i>The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson<\/i> clips in 2025 mainly consist of Carson\u2019s interviews. He excelled at having funny, memorable interactions with guests.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>In contrast, you never see the sketch comedy elements from his\u00a0<i>Tonight Show<\/i> because they\u2019re from a different time and age pretty poorly. Known for his garrulous insults, cutthroat asides and endless Southern colloquialisms, Foghorn Leghorn\u2019s cartoons stand as some of the funniest Looney Tunes shorts ever.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>That said, the character was lifted nearly wholecloth from a radio character from\u00a0<i>The Fred Allen Show<\/i> named Senator Claghorn, played by\u00a0<i>The Fred Allen Show<\/i> announcer Kenny Delmar. The only real difference between the characters is that Claghorn was a senator while Leghorn was a rooster. They even had the same turns of phrase like \u201cThat\u2019s a joke, son!\u201d and beginning sentences by saying \u201cI say\u2026\u201d The similarity in the names is no coincidence either, as Foghorn Leghorn\u2019s name was an acknowledgment of its inspiration.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/t_RStBmfer10mc8MYN_ffA--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTcyMDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cracked_901\/e28535793c82239f9053cdfc0be3d577\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><label>3 <\/label><span>The Flintstones <\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/.TxG2wlfvt3H4WJPiFvJSA--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTcyMDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cracked_901\/b203baa0136ec700a6538826b58e761a\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>While they were both successful in their own right,\u00a0<i>The Flintstones<\/i> is an exact clone of\u00a0<i>The Honeymooners<\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>Fred Flintstone was a direct lift of Jackie Gleason\u2019s Ralph Kramden as an overweight, blue-collar loudmouth who loves to bowl. Wilma Flintstone also leans very hard into Audrey Meadows\u2019 Alice Kramden in her take-no-guff-from-her-husband attitude.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>Perhaps the most obvious rip-off is Barney Rubble for Ed Norton as the chuckling, dim-witted best pal. Barney\u2019s voice was even closer to Art Carney\u2019s than Fred\u2019s was to Gleason.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>One of the creators of\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cracked.com\/article_47872_jackie-gleason-almost-sued-to-get-the-flintstones-off-the-air.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:The Flintstones;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><span><i>The Flintstones<\/i><\/span><\/a><span> even admitted to the theft. Snagglepuss was lifted from Bert Lahr, who is best known for playing the Cowardly Lion in\u00a0<i>The Wizard of Oz<\/i> but had an entire comic persona that didn\u2019t involve him wearing fur.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>Lahr even brought legal action when Snagglepuss endorsed Kellogg&#8217;s products. Bilko character from\u00a0<i>The Phil Silvers Show<\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span>Voiced by Arnold Stang, Top Cat began as a direct imitation of Phil Silvers\u2019 character, but the show\u2019s sponsor forced a change, so it became\u00a0<i>somewhat<\/i> based upon Silvers\u2019 voice.
