Sydney Sweeney is in attendance at NASCAR’s Championship Race on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old actress, who is set to star in an upcoming sports movie, “Christy,” made a surprise appearance in Phoenix on Sunday. Sweeney, who has been promoting her upcoming movie about the former professional boxer Christy Martin, was spotted in the media center <\/a>at Phoenix Raceway. She was part of the drivers’ meeting on Sunday and was also seen posing with drivers and fans.<\/p>\n NASCAR Cup Series driver Noah Gragson was among those to grab a photo with Sweeney prior to the race on Sunday.<\/p>\n Sweeney was spotted wearing sunglasses, a white racing jacket and shorts.<\/p>\n RFK Racing shared a video of Sweeney making her way into the media center on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n The NASCAR Cup is set to begin at 3 p.m. E.T. on Sunday.<\/p>\n Sweeney, known for her roles in movies like “Anyone But You” and shows like “Euphoria,” recently appeared on WFAN Radio to promote the film. She was asked by host Brandon Tierney if she came close to connecting on her big punches while shooting her stunts.<\/p>\n “So this is the crazy thing \u2014 we actually did connect [land punches] in the fights on the movie. One of the first things I talked to was my fight coordinator Walt and all of my stunt girls – and some of my girls were actual fighters – and I was like, \u2018Hit me. I want you to hit me and I want to connect.’ There\u2019s so much of Christy <\/em>that comes to life in these scenes of her in the ring, I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t want it to be the back of my head because it\u2019s a stunt double,\u2019 or, \u2018I don\u2019t want to have to be cutting the scene to be super choppy,\u2019 because you don\u2019t get to see Christy\u2019s personality shine, you don\u2019t get to see the emotional change happening to her during these fights,” Sweeney said, via BroBible.<\/a><\/p>\n “So when you see us hitting each other, we\u2019re actually connecting. There\u2019s bloody noises, I got a concussion, it was full force.”<\/p>\n Sweeney is very proud of the upcoming movie, she revealed on Instagram.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t usually write a lot in my captions but this movie and experience I feel needs more than just a few words,\u201d Sweeney wrote<\/a>. \u201cWe have wrapped filming Christy Martin\u2019s story and it has been one of the most emotional, transformative experiences of my life. Christy\u2019s journey is so deeply inspiring, and having her by my side during this process was nothing short of surreal. There were moments on set where I\u2019d glance over at her standing by the monitors, cheering us on, and I\u2019d just become so emotional. Knowing what she\u2019s endured, what she\u2019s pushed through to be there in that moment\u2014it made me want to cry.<\/p>\n \u201cThis story is so much bigger than just a film. It\u2019s a testament to resilience, survival, and finding the strength to keep fighting. I can\u2019t wait for you all to see it\u2014not only because I\u2019m proud of the transformation and the work I\u2019ve poured into it, but because Christy\u2019s story deserves to be told.
