Woody Harrelson<\/strong> recently addressed one of True Detective<\/strong>\u2019s most discussed questions: the possibility of his return to the HBO series. The actor, who played Detective Marty Hart in the first season alongside Matthew McConaughey<\/strong>, spoke about the idea in a recent interview and shared his honest thoughts on revisiting the role.<\/p>\n Speaking on the 3rd Hour of Today on Oct. 31, the 64-year-old actor made it clear he has no plans to return. \u201cMatthew\u2019s so funny, but in fairness, never. Not a chance,\u201d Harrelson said when asked about revisiting the character.<\/p>\n Harrelson\u2019s comments followed his co-star Matthew McConaughey\u2019s remarks earlier in October, when McConaughey said he would consider another season \u201cif Woody and I think it\u2019s good enough. It wouldn\u2019t even be a choice.\u201d<\/p>\n The two starred together in the 2014 debut season of True Detective, earning Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for their performances as detectives Rust Cohle and Marty Hart. The season itself won five Emmy Awards and was widely praised for its writing and performances.<\/p>\n Explaining his decision, Harrelson said, \u201cBecause it turned out great. I love that it turned out the way it did. If anything, doing another season would, I think, tarnish that.\u201d His statement came more than a decade after the show\u2019s first season premiered, which helped launch the anthology series that later featured actors including Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Mahershala Ali, Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch, and Jodie Foster.<\/p>\n Although Harrelson ruled out another True Detective appearance, he confirmed that he and McConaughey are reuniting for a new project. \u201cWe are doing something together and this is a comedy, half-hour, and hopefully people dig it,\u201d he said.
