Two new releases led the China box office over the weekend of Oct. 31\u2013Nov. 2, according to Artisan Gateway.<\/p>\n

Maoyan Movie\u2019s \u201cHer Turn\u201d topped the chart with RMB35.5 million ($5 million) in its opening two-day frame. Directed by Cheng Yanan, the thriller stars Li Gengxi, Deng Jiajia, Liu Yitie, Huang Xiaoming and Yue Jiayi. The story follows a partially paralysed woman who returns to her family\u2019s remote mansion, uncovering long-buried secrets and a revenge plot years in the making.<\/p>\n

In second place, Studio Khara\u2019s Japanese import \u201cEvangelion: 3.0+1.0\u201d (2021) grossed $4.1 million. The concluding chapter of Hideaki Anno\u2019s long-running \u201cRebuild of Evangelion\u201d film series continues to draw global fandom attention. The anime epic follows teenage pilot Shinji Ikari as he battles to save humanity from annihilation while confronting guilt and existential despair.<\/p>\n

PMF Pictures\u2019 \u201cRow to Win\u201d ranked third with $3.2 million, bringing its cumulative total to $56.8 million. The comedy-drama directed by Ma Lin and starring Huang Bo, Fan Chengcheng, Yin Tao and Li Jiaqi, follows a coastal-town family \u2013 led by a once-tough patriarch \u2013 who rally together in hard times and push for a comeback.<\/p>\n

China Film Group\u2019s patriotic epic \u201cThe Volunteers: Peace at Last\u201d earned $1.3 million for a running total of $87.3 million. The film, which commemorates the Chinese People\u2019s Volunteer Army entering the Korean War, stars Wu Jing and Zhang Ziyi and marks the third chapter in\u00a0Chen Kaige<\/a>\u2019s \u201cThe Volunteers\u201d trilogy.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the top five, Changying Film Group\u2019s supernatural thriller \u201cEvil Unbound\u201d took $900,000 and now stands at $272.4 million. Zhao Linshan\u2019s film, which dramatizes the atrocities of Japan\u2019s Unit 731 during World War II, stars Jiang Wu, Wang Zhiwen and Li Naiwen.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s total weekend box office reached $21 million \u2013 a marginal improvement over last week \u2013 pushing 2025\u2019s cumulative gross to $6.29 billion, up 16.1% year-on-year.<\/p>\n
