Speaking to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/1225134\/mayor-of-kingstown-season-4-episode-2-interview-lane-garrison-carney-dead-exclusive\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:TV Insider;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">TV Insider<\/a>, the actor revealed that producers informed him about his character\u2019s death and his upcoming move to another Taylor Sheridan project. \u201cThey\u2019re like, \u2018We\u2019ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is we\u2019re killing you. The good news is we\u2019re gonna find something for you in Tulsa King,\u2019\u201d Garrison said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In Mayor of Kingstown Season 4, Garrison\u2019s character Carney dies in Episode 2, \u201cPromises to Keep.\u201d A Colombian national linked to an earlier assassination attempt on Bunny (Tobi Bamtefa) kills him shortly after he tends to his father at home. Carney\u2019s death leaves Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) facing another loss inside the prison system. Garrison described filming the sequence as emotional, explaining that several crew members teared up during the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The actor said he initially believed Carney\u2019s storyline would expand after Kareem\u2019s (Michael Beach) death. He thought the character would \u201cstep into those shoes\u201d and potentially become warden. \u201cIn my mind, I thought he was going to become the warden, and that was going to be a whole process through corruption. Obviously, that\u2019s not how it played out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Garrison also reflected on his earlier roles and noted the personal significance of returning to a prison-based drama after Prison Break. \u201cTo come full circle now to play a guard on the other side and die properly, like a gentleman, and say my goodbyes\u2014that was something I took away more than anything,\u201d he said.
