Ryan Seacrest has lost his father, Gary, to a lengthy battle with prostate cancer.<\/p>\n
The \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d host revealed his father last week in an emotional Instagram post<\/a> on Friday, Oct. 31.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is with a heavy heart that I share with you that my loving father peacefully passed away earlier this week,\u201d Seacrest wrote in the post, which included several family photos.<\/p>\n \u201cMy mom, sister and I have peace knowing he is in a better place and free of any pain or suffering,\u201d he continued. \u201cWe are heartbroken. He was a devoted husband for 56 years, an incredible Papa to Flora, and my best friend. Dad you will live in our hearts forever. I love you.\u201d <\/p>\n Gary had been fighting prostate cancer for years, Parade<\/a> reported. The family had previously believed the cancer was no longer detectable, but Ryan revealed in July<\/a> that his father\u2019s condition had deteriorated.<\/p>\n The announcement prompted an outpouring of sympathy from celebrities in the comments section.<\/p>\n Former \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d judge and \u201880s pop star Paula Abdul wrote, \u201cRyan, my heart goes out to you. I\u2019m so sorry for your loss.
