Actress Diane Ladd, known for roles in \u201cAlice Doesn\u2019t Live Here Anymore,\u201d \u201cWild at Heart\u201d and \u201cRambling Rose,\u201d died Monday at the age of 89.<\/p>\n

Ladd\u2019s daughter, actress Laura Dern, confirmed the news to \u201cThe Hollywood Reporter.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cMy amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother passed with me beside her this morning at her home in Ojai, California,\u201d Dern said in a statement. \u201cShe was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created. We were blessed to have her. She is flying with her angels now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ladd\u2019s breakout role came as Flo, blunt waitress, in Martin Scorsese\u2018s 1974 movie \u201cAlice Doesn\u2019t Live Here Anymore.\u201d The role earned her an Academy Award nomination. Oscar nominations also came with her roles in She also received supporting actress nods in the early 1990s for David Lynch\u2019s \u201cWild at Heart\u201d and Martha Coolidge\u2019s \u201cRambling Rose,\u201d both of which co-starred Dern.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love working with Laura,\u201d Ladd told New Orleans magazine<\/a> in 2014. \u201cOnce when we were doing \u2018Wild at Heart,\u2019 she said, \u2018How was your day, Mom?\u2019 And I said, \u2018It was great. I worked with someone that everyone loved and respected and was incredible.\u2019 She said, \u2018Who is that?\u2019 \u201d and I said, \u2018It\u2019s you, Laura. I\u2019m proud of you as a professional \u2013 not just a talent, but the way you conduct yourself with humility as a human being.\u2019 “<\/p>\n
