Amy Sherman-Palladino and <\/span>Ryan Reynolds<\/span><\/a> are booking a room on the \u201ctippy-top floor\u201d of the Plaza Hotel for <\/span>Eloise<\/span><\/i>, a forthcoming live-action take on the beloved book series by Kay Thompson. The film will serve as a feature-length directorial debut for Sherman-Palladino, the prolific TV creator behind such shows as <\/span>The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/span><\/i><\/a>, <\/span>Gilmore Girls<\/span><\/i><\/a>, and the recently-axed <\/span>\u00c9toile<\/span><\/i><\/a>. Sherman-Palladino is also co-writing the script with Hannah Marks (<\/span>Turtles All The Way Down<\/span><\/i>) and Linda Woolverton (<\/span>Maleficent<\/span><\/i>). Reynolds will produce and star as an \u201coriginal villainous character,\u201d <\/span>per <\/span>The Hollywood Reporter<\/span><\/i><\/a>. Hopefully sweet, precocious Eloise doesn\u2019t have to deal with too much opposition from whoever Reynolds\u2019 antagonist turns out to be; she\u2019s only six years old, after all.<\/span><\/p>\n We don\u2019t yet know what kind of shenanigans Eloise\u2014who will be played by newcomer Mae Schenk\u2014will get up to this time. The film\u2019s plot is currently under wraps, but it\u2019s said to be an \u201coriginal adventure\u201d based on the books, with input from illustrator Hilary Knight, publisher Simon & Schuster, and the Thompson estate. Eloise<\/span> previously starred in two made-for-TV movies in 2003\u2014<\/span>Eloise At The Plaza<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Eloise At Christmastime<\/span><\/i>\u2014which somehow landed Julie Andrews to play Eloise\u2019s nanny. That role, as well as additional casting for the new film, has not been announced as of this writing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The film will debut on Netflix. \u201cIt\u2019s an honor to reintroduce this cherished character to the world with two people who share her signature mischief and charm\u2014Amy Sherman-Palladino and Ryan Reynolds\u2014in this bold, hilarious, and heartfelt new family film,\u201d said the streamer\u2019s feature animation head, Hannah Minghella, in a statement.
