Rick Springfield on Hulu’s ‘All’s Fair’ (Disney\/Ser Baffo)<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Rick Springfield<\/strong> appears in Ryan Murphy<\/strong>\u2019s new Hulu legal series, <\/span>All\u2019s Fair<\/span><\/em><\/a>, where he plays a musician divorcing his wife, played by Jessica Simpson<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Being that he is a musician, you\u2019d think the role wouldn\u2019t be too much of a stretch for him. But\u00a0the “Jessie’s Girl” singer\u00a0tells ABC Audio not all musicians\u00a0would necessarily be able to\u00a0handle the part.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s like you don’t hire a doctor to play a doctor, you hire an actor,” he says. “If it was just you had to be a musician to be good in the part, every musician would be working.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Springfield says it\u2019s also rare that he\u00a0sees a musician written in a way that\u2019s believable.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The musician thing is a tough thing to pull off on written stuff, you know, I’ve never really seen a fictional one that you go, ‘Wow, they nailed it,'” he says. “Most of the written stuff you kind of look at and you go, ‘I wouldn’t do that.'”<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u00a0says that <\/span>All\u2019s Fair<\/span><\/em> is different, because his role isn\u2019t so much about being a musician, it\u2019s about how he interacts with Simpson\u2019s character.<\/span><\/p>\n

And Springfield says working with Simpson was “great”\u00a0because “she goes for it.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“It was a lot of fun to work with her,” he says, “and certainly fun to work with the other actors.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The series features an all-star female cast that includes Sarah Paulson<\/strong>, Glenn Close<\/strong>, Naomi Watts<\/strong>, Kim<\/strong> Kardashian<\/strong> and Niecy Nash-Betts<\/strong>. Springfield says being around all the actresses\u00a0inspired him while acting.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI ad-libbed a line … about estrogen overload or something like this walking through their offices,\u201d he says. \u201cI guess they liked it because they kept it.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All\u2019s Fair<\/span><\/em> is now streaming on Hulu.<\/span><\/p>\n
