\u201cWicked\u201d star Ariana Grande will have to miss the premiere of her upcoming film in Brazil after her plane experienced maintenance issues.<\/p>\n
The actress-singer told fans that she was going to miss the premiere of \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d in S\u00e3o Paulo on her social media early Tuesday morning, Nov. 4. <\/p>\n
\u201cBrazil, I can\u2019t believe this is happening and I am beyond devastated to be sending this message,\u201d Grande wrote on her Instagram story<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cA few hours ago, my team and I had to deplane our flight, as they had to do maintenance on the plane due to a safety issue and it will not be taking off until 11 a.m. tomorrow, which means that I would not be making it in time for the \u2018Wicked For Good\u2019 S\u00e3o Paulo premiere,\u201d she continued. <\/p>\n Grande, who plays Glinda in the \u201cWicked\u201d films opposite Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, said there was no chance of her getting to the premiere despite her team\u2019s efforts. <\/p>\n \u201cMy team and Universal have tried every single thing possible to fix this,\u201d Grande explained. \u201cWe\u2019ve searched every other flight, overnight, early morning, connecting flights, commercial and also private options and absolutely nothing was available or possible that would get us there in time. Even in attempting a private option, there is a permit necessary in order to fly from here that takes time to attain.\u201d<\/p>\n The premiere would have marked Grande\u2019s first time in Brazil in several years, according to Variety<\/a>. The actress expressed her heartfelt condolences to fans in her Instagram story.<\/p>\n \u201cI am so heartbroken that I\u2019m unable to be there with you all. We sincerely tried everything we could and I apologize from the bottom of my heart,\u201d Grande wrote. \u201cPlease shower my incredible castmates with all of the love that I wish I could be showering you with and have the most beautiful celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d serves as the follow-up to the first \u201cWicked\u201d movie, which came out in November 2024. The film, which was an adaptation of the first act of the hit 2003 Broadway musical by Stephen Schwartz and Holzman, earned 10 Oscar nominations \u2014 winning<\/a> Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. <\/p>\n The S\u00e3o Paulo premiere of \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d marks Universal\u2019s first major international rollout for the film, Variety noted.
