Janus Films<\/a> has acquired all U.S. rights to \u201cCarol & Joy,\u201d a v\u00e9rit\u00e9 documentary short featuring Oscar-nominated actress Carol Kane<\/a> and her 98-year-old mother, Joy.<\/p>\n

The film \u2014 directed by Nathan Silver<\/a> (\u201cBetween the Temples<\/a>\u201d) \u2014 had its world premiere at the 2025 Telluride Film Festival and continued its fall festival run at the New York Film Festival, Hamptons International Film Festival and Woodstock Film Festival. It had its international premiere at the Viennale.<\/p>\n

\u201cCarol & Joy\u201d will now debut exclusively on the Criterion Channel on Dec. 1, 2025. Janus<\/a> will be supporting the film\u2019s efforts for best documentary short category at the 2026 Academy Awards.<\/p>\n

On New York\u2019s Upper West Side, Kane lives with her 98-year-old mother Joy, an active music teacher, former dancer, and lifelong Francophile.
