But if that\u2019s not in your heart, don\u2019t do it. I don\u2019t want it. I don\u2019t need it,\u2019\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n
When Kimmel returned to his show the following week<\/span><\/a>, he delivered an extended monologue in which he addressed his original comments and the widow\u2019s public eulogy specifically.<\/p>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n\u201cI do want to make something clear because it\u2019s important to me as a human that you understand it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man,\u201d he said on September 23, at times growing emotional. \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything funny about it. Nor was my intent to blame any specific group for the actions of what was obviously a deeply disturbed individual. That was really the opposite of the point I was trying to make, but I understand that to some it felt ill-timed or unclear or maybe both. For those who think I did point a finger, I get why you\u2019re upset \u2014 if the situation was reversed, there\u2019s a good chance I\u2019d feel the same way.\u201d<\/p>\n
