Maya Hawke revealed that she often reprises her \u201cInside Out 2\u201d role as Anxiety in real life, using the character to comfort her friends\u2019 children dealing with similar emotions.<\/p>\n
Hawke opened up about her kind gesture during a sit-down on her \u201cInside Out 2\u201d co-star Amy Poehler\u2019s podcast \u201cGood Hang with Amy Poehler\u201d on Tuesday. Poehler stars as the main emotion Joy.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThat movie made people so happy and feel so seen,\u201d Hawke said as the two started to share the joy they experienced doing the film.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been one of the great honors,\u201d Hawke added. \u201cMy little sister was asking me the other day. She was like, \u2018Do you get annoyed if someone asks you to do the Anxiety voice?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018No, not at all.’\u201d<\/p>\n Hawke said that one of the things she loves most about the film is how it impacted adults and children, and that\u2019s when she opened up about the random requests she receives from her friends. As she broke down an example scenario, she slipped into her character.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll get a call from a \u2026 friend of mine who is a parent \u2026 and [they\u2019ll] be like, \u2018Hey, would you do a recording, my kid\u2019s going through this hard time. Would you record something in the voice for my kid?’\u201d Hawke said. \u201cI\u2019ll be like, \u2018Sure.\u2019 I\u2019ll turn on the little speaker and be like, \u2018Hi! Oh, I know it\u2019s really scary when parents have to go to the doctor\u2019s office, and I know that makes you nervous, but the thing is, you just take a deep breath and trust that your daddy will be safe and that the doctors are going to take care of him.\u2019 I will do things like that, and I don\u2019t mind at all. I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n Poehler said she completely relates to how Hawke feels.<\/p>\n \u201cI know, I feel the same,\u201d Poehler said. \u201cYou and I had a couple moments when we were doing press where we kept looking at each other like, \u2018Woah, this feels so much bigger than us.\u2019 The response of the movie was so beautiful, and I know that that is very rare to be in something good, that people like, that people go to see that is a good experience.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd that is good for the world,\u201d Hawke chimed back in.<\/p>\n \u201cInside Out 2,\u201d came out nearly 10 years after the first \u201cInside Out\u201d landed in theaters in 2015.
