Al Roker<\/span><\/strong> crashed the Today<\/a><\/em> set on his day off\u2014and his third-hour cohosts couldn’t keep it together when they noticed him lurking in the background.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, Nov. 4, the weatherman, 71, was absent from his usual cohosting spot when 9 a.m. ET rolled around. However, Roker suddenly appeared in the background<\/a> of the camera shot as she peered through the Studio 1A window while standing on the sidewalk outside.<\/p>\n \ud83c\udfac\u00a0<\/strong>SIGN UP for Parade\u2019s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\ud83c\udfac<\/strong><\/p>\n Sheinelle Jones<\/a><\/strong>, Craig Melvin <\/a><\/strong>and Dylan Dreyer<\/a><\/strong> were in the middle of interviewing Broadway actor Jordon Litz<\/strong> about running the New York City marathon and then immediately playing Fiyero in Wicked<\/em> when they acknowledged his presence.<\/p>\n \u201cI gotta be honest with you, it\u2019s hard to keep track and focus, because this guy,\u201d Melvin confessed as he pointed to Roker sipping coffee while standing close to the window.<\/p>\n \u201cOh my God, Al Roker!\u201d Jones exclaimed, laughing. “Thanks for coming in to work today, buddy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re doing a show!\u201d Melvin jokingly scolded him, also laughing.<\/p>\n That’s when Jones explained, \u201cIn his defense, he got in really late last night, so we\u2019re letting him sleep in.\u201d<\/p>\n As Roker continued moving around in the camera shot, Jones again drew attention to his presence, saying to Melvin, “What is wrong with your friend? He keeps popping up everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n Melvin then joked, \u201cAl Roker, he couldn\u2019t come to work today, but he could hang outside the studio.”<\/p>\n Later during the third-hour of today, Roker came inside the studio, walked on the set and shared, \u201cI\u2019d love to stay, but I\u2019ve gotta go. We\u2019ve got things to do.”<\/p>\n To that, Melvin quipped that he was rehearsing for \u201cearly retirement.”<\/p>\n Roker, of course, shut down retirement speculation<\/a> in September 2024 on the heels of Hoda Kotb<\/strong> announcing her Today<\/em> exit<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t feel like that\u2019s my time yet, but who knows. Maybe a year or two. Maybe not, but I\u2019m enjoying it.
