Former Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner<\/strong><\/a> does not have the fondest memories from his wedding to Theresa Nist.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was butterflies and an anticipated funeral rather than a wedding,\u201d Gerry, 74, said on the Monday, November 3, episode of the Tamron Hall Show<\/a>, recalling how he was feeling the night before marrying Theresa, 72. \u201cThere were a lot of mixed feelings. And I had just come off of, really, a high-velocity, artificial environment and I\u2019m right at the end and I\u2019m wondering whether I\u2019m doing the right thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite having cold feet, Gerry ultimately went through with the wedding and said \u201cI do\u201d to Theresa in 2024. The pair announced their plans to divorce months later, with Gerry releasing his side of the story<\/a> in his memoir, Golden Years: What I\u2019ve Learned from Love, Loss, and Reality TV<\/em>, out on Tuesday, November 4.<\/p>\n

When asked how much he thought about Theresa while reliving their journey together in his book, Gerry replied, \u201cA lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, early in the book and for most of the book, I\u2019m very complimentary of Theresa and all the women and the relationship that I was building with her and so forth,\u201d Gerry shared on Monday. \u201cBut, here again, the rest of the story is that when she said on the show that she was ready to quit her job, and then afterwards, that she wanted to continue working, there was a point where I knew deep down inside there was not going to be a compromise that worked.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tamron Hall, meanwhile, pushed back on Gerry\u2019s idea that he was \u201ccomplimentary\u201d of Theresa, noting that the former lead believed his ex-wife \u201ccreated a narrative that she was a victim.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think that\u2019s a compliment. But that\u2019s your point of view, which is fair,\u201d Tamron said, while Gerry added, \u201cI mean it\u2019s my truth. It\u2019s what I believe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tamron clarified that she was not criticizing Gerry for his comments, but rather pointing out that \u201cit takes a lot to say, \u2018This is my truth and I\u2019m standing on it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

One day later, Theresa fired back at Gerry\u2019s claims<\/a> in his book \u2014 including that he felt \u201ctrapped\u201d the night before marrying her. Theresa alleged that the pair never had a conversation about where he stood, and she would have been \u201crelieved\u201d if he shared his nerves with her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have to say that I always said I like to live my life without regrets, but boy I made some mistakes here. I regret getting married so quickly. That shouldn\u2019t have happened,\u201d Theresa shared on the Tuesday episode of the \u201cDear Shandy\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n
