While it’s been years since the first The Mummy movie starring Brendan Fraser<\/a>, die-hard fans haven’t stayed quiet over wanting him to return to his coveted role as Rick O’Connell. It appears that fans are not only getting Fraser back, but Rachel Weisz<\/a> as well, in a new Mummy movie<\/a>.<\/p>\n Universal Pictures is in talks to return to the beloved action-adventure franchise with Fraser and Weisz likely reprising their leading roles. According to Deadline<\/a>, reps for Universal Pictures have yet to comment, with details on the new movie being kept quiet.<\/p>\n Insiders claim Radio Silence\u2018s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct from a script by David Coggeshall. William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment will also be on board as producers alingside Sean Daniel.<\/p>\n The age of returning franchises is upon us, as Radio Silence and Project X were also behind revamping the Scream franchise and the upcoming seventh installment.<\/p>\n The new Mummy movie will reunite Fraser and Weisz after appearing in both the 1999 and 2001 movies. Weisz didn’t return for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor as Evelyn O’Connell, citing script concerns, scheduling conflicts, and creative differences.<\/p>\n Fraser has, in recent years, returned to the Hollywood spotlight, getting a standing ovation and an Oscar for Best Actor for The Whale. <\/p>\n While admitting that the Mummy movies were hard to make, he’s always been open to returning.<\/p>\n “But it’s kind of an open-ended question for some time now. I’m not opposed to it. I don’t know an actor that doesn’t want a job.
