Following the critical success of the 2021 movie CODA, producers Vend\u00f4me Pictures and Path\u00e9 are once again teaming up on the upcoming biographical drama Ibelin<\/strong>, based on the real-life story of World of Warcraft<\/a> player Mats Steen. He was best known for his heroic online persona as Ibelin in the popular online video game. At the age of 25, Steen passed away in 2014 from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.<\/p>\n Before the upcoming biopic, Netflix previously released a documentary movie about Steen\u2019s life, titled The Remarkable Life of Ibelin<\/a>. It highlighted how the beloved gamer inspired many lives despite his physical limitations. Blizzard Entertainment<\/a> also showed its support for the documentary by implementing a few in-game tributes in honor of Steen\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n The Ibelin movie will be led by Charlie Plummer<\/span> (The Long Walk), Stephen Graham<\/span> (Adolescence), Toni Collette<\/span> (Little Miss Sunshine), Isabela Merced<\/span> (The Last of Us), Maisy Stella<\/span> (My Old Ass), and Sir Anthony Hopkins<\/span> (The Silence of the Lambs). Acclaimed filmmaker Morten Tyldum<\/span> (The Imitation Game) will be directing from a screenplay written by Ilaria Bernardini and Hossein Amini, based on Steen\u2019s blog, \u201cMusings of Life.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2013B\u2013E\u2013L\u2013I\u2013N. Ibelin is a celebration of life \u2014 tender, funny, and profoundly moving; a heartfelt family story intertwined with an epic adventure that explores the power of friendship and the invisible threads that connect us all.\u201d<\/p>\n The project will be produced by Philippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi for Vend\u00f4me Pictures, alongside J\u00e9r\u00f4me Seydoux for Path\u00e9, Tyldum, and Guri Neby for Neby-Tyldum AS. Vend\u00f4me Pictures and Path\u00e9 are also set to finance the movie.
