The Prince of Wales has found echoes of his mother, Diana,
\nduring his visit to Rio.<\/p>\n

\nfollowed in the late princess\u2019s footsteps as he visited the famous
\nstatue of Christ the Redeemer which dominates the city.<\/h2>\n

The heir to the throne stood beneath the statue for a photo,
\njust as his mother had done when she made an official visit to
\nBrazil in 1991. It became one of the most celebrated images of
\nDiana.<\/p>\n

It was a bittersweet moment for Prince William<\/a> as his successful visit to Brazil
\ncontinues and it recalled another moment on a previous tour. In
\n2016, when William and Kate went to India, they sat in front of the
\nTaj Mahal for a photo that recalled Diana\u2019s famous visit there when
\nshe posed alone for a picture that was later seen as symbolic of
\nthe end of her marriage to the now King Charles.<\/p>\n

William\u2019s visit to the Christ the Redeemer statue came on the
\nthird day of his trip to Brazil which is focused on environmental
\nissues and which will see him present the 2025 Earthshot awards
\nlater on.<\/p>\n

On November 5, Prince William will walk the green carpet at
\nEarthshot ahead of a star studded show which will feature
\nperformances from Kylie Minogue and Shawn Mendes. He will then hand
\nout this year\u2019s five Earthshot prizes, each worth \u00a31 million for a
\nproject that is focused on protecting the environment and
\nincreasing sustainability.<\/p>\n

The royal visit to Brazil has already seen William put his
\npassion for football at the heart of his green campaigning. One of
\nthe first events he attended was the kick off of a leadership
\nprogramme for 75 young people, hosted in part by Brazilian legend,
\nCafu, who played in three World Cup finals and won two of them. The
\nscheme aims to build skills and encourage the exchange of ideas
\nbetween the climate leaders of the future.<\/p>\n

The future king was also presented with the keys of the city of
\nRio de Janeiro by its mayor, Eduardo Paes, almost as soon as he
\narrived in Brazil.<\/p>\n

As we\u2019ve come to expect from the Prince of Wales, this has been
\nan all action trip with William taking to the sand to enjoy a game
\nof beach volleyball at a school run by Olympic star, Carol Solberg,
\nwhich aims to use sport as a way of transforming the lives of
\ndisadvantaged children.<\/p>\n

Prince William
\nalso took to the waters to visit a project planting mangrove
\nseedlings which aims to protect the natural environment as well as
\ncontinue local culture.<\/h2>\n

There have been major meetings as well with the Prince of Wales
\ntaking part in the United for Wildlife Global Summit which brought
\ntogether Indigenous Peoples, leaders from the world of nature
\nconservation and philanthropists as well representatives from the
\nprivate sector to discuss how to protect natural species and
\nplaces.<\/p>\n

At the summit, Prince William announced a new initiative, the
\nCoordination of Indigenous Organisations of the Brazilian Amazon,
\nwhich will help indigenous leaders protect their land through
\ndelivering emergency funding and legal aid as well as threat
\ntracking systems.<\/p>\n

After the Earthshot Prize ceremony, Prince William is set to
\nhead to Belem where he will attend the COP30 Heads of State meeting
\non behalf of King Charles.<\/p>\n
