This October, celebrities and fashion moguls at Vogue gathered to celebrate the inextricable marriage between fashion and cinema.<\/span><\/p>\n Vogue World: Hollywood<\/span><\/a> took place this year on Sunday Oct. 26 at Paramount Studios. Teasing the event beforehand, American Vogue\u2019s September issue featured Ayo Edebiri, Nicole Kidman and Greta Lee. A rather new outing, the first Vogue World show premiered back in <\/span>2022<\/span><\/a>, held in New York to celebrate Vogue\u2019s 130th anniversary.<\/span><\/p>\n A few years have passed since then, and the production team certainly delivered this time around. Sponsored by Chase Sapphire, eBay and Eli Lilly and Company, the catwalk was a street lying behind Paramount Studios, graced with celebrities, models and spectators alike.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Los Angeles was the ideal setting for a cinematic evening. A diverse clientele traveled to attend, from Anna Wintour herself to California Governor Gavin Newsom and entertainment executive and sports agent Casey Wasserman.<\/span><\/p>\n Split into <\/span>seven acts<\/span><\/a>, costume designers from corresponding films and creative directors of fashion houses collaborated to revive film fashion favorites.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAct 1: Hollywood Glamour,\u201d Catherine Martin (costume) and Miuccia Prada (Prada); \u201cAct 2: The Renegades,\u201d Colleen Atwood (costume) and Se\u00e1n McGirr (McQueen); \u201cAct 3: Historical Heroines,\u201d Milena Canonero (costume) and Nicolas Ghesquiere (Louis Vuitton); \u201cAct 4: Summer of Love,\u201d Arianne Phillips (costume) and Marc Jacobs (Marc Jacobs); \u201cAct 5: Avant-Garde,\u201d Sandy Powell (costume) and Alessandro Michele (Valentino); \u201cAct 6: Afrofuturism,\u201d Ruth E. Carter and Olivier Rousteing (Balmain); \u201cAct 7: New World,\u201d Jacqueline West (costume) and Pieter Mulier (Maison Ala\u00efa).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It was an atypical runway show, but an exceedingly typical movie set. Crew members moved props and pushed costume racks in the midst of the affair. Los Angeles native <\/span>Gracie Abrams<\/span><\/a> performed Carole King\u2019s \u201cI Feel the Earth Move\u201d and her hit song \u201cThat\u2019s So True,\u201d in a burgundy fresh-off-the-runway Chanel set.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Kidman<\/span><\/a>, opening the catwalk in a custom silk black dress and gloves, emulated Rita Hayworth from the 1946 noir film \u201cGilda\u201d \u2014 designed by Matthieu Blazy at Chanel. Director Baz Luhrmann shouted from ahead with film equipment, summoning <\/span>Kendall Jenner<\/span><\/a> to the forefront of his own production, \u201cMoulin Rouge\u201d (2001). Designed by Catherine Martin and Angus Strathie, she stunned in the black and silver showgirl look of\u00a0 Satine, originally played by Kidman.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Let them eat cake! <\/span>Julia Garner<\/span><\/a> emerged in Canonero\u2019s recreation of Kirsten Dunst\u2019s dress from the 2006 Sofia Coppola film, \u201cMarie Antoinette.\u201d The French monarchy may have been in decline, but the audience\u2019s reaction to the robe \u00e0 la\u00a0 Fran\u00e7aise said otherwise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Shortly after, <\/span>Diane Keaton<\/span><\/a>\u2019s nostalgic rendition of \u201cSeems Like Old Times\u201d from the movie \u201cAnnie Hall\u201d (1977) echoed purposefully as model <\/span>Betsy Gaghan<\/span><\/a> glided in Ralph Lauren. Not a dry eye in sight, it was a phenomenal tribute to the late actress.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Model <\/span>Marimar Cardenas<\/span><\/a> stepped in the shoes of Elizabeth Taylor as \u201cCleopatra\u201d (1963). Posing as the ultimate seductress, the glazed gold attire is one of Hollywood\u2019s most expensive and jaw dropping on-screen looks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Angela Bassett<\/span><\/a> reprised her role as Queen Ramonda in her \u201cBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever\u201d (2022) ensemble.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cSuch an undertaking and a lot of work,\u201d Oscar winning costume designer <\/span>Carter<\/span><\/a> said. \u201cBut tell me first of all, the electricity tonight was on another level\u2026The support we got was unbelievable\u2026It was a real snapshot of what it\u2019s like to be on a movie set.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Looks were served by <\/span>Adut Akech<\/span><\/a> as Daisy Buchanan from Luhrmann\u2019s \u201cThe Great Gatsby\u201d (2013), wearing the original dress with Tiffany & Co. jewelry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBaz wanted the <\/span>Gatsby<\/span><\/i> costumes to be rooted in the silhouettes, fabrics, and details of the 1920s, but infused with an energy that would resonate with modern viewers,\u201d <\/span>Martin<\/span><\/a> explained to Vogue. \u201cThis led me to favor the idealized forms over strict historical accuracy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n With fog machines clouding the air and dark music erupting, <\/span>Anok Yai<\/span><\/a> appeared as \u201cEdward Scissorhands\u201d (1990). The costume replicated by Atwood (original designer) was identical to the one Johnny Depp wore in the film.<\/span><\/p>\n On the men\u2019s side, <\/span>Jeff Goldblum<\/span><\/a> was spotted charming the crowd in a silver and purple sequined suit made by Gucci. Kyle MacLachlan was as dashing as ever in a baby blue Tom Ford dressing gown, a tone pairing perfectly with his exquisite silver hair.<\/span><\/p>\n Apart from the main curations, several others walked beside them. Sandy from \u201cGrease\u201d (1978), Grace Kelly\u2019s black and white ball gown in the Alfred Hitchcock film \u201cRear Window\u201d (1954), Audrey Hepburn\u2019s signature black dress with pearls and gloves from \u201cBreakfast at Tiffany\u2019s\u201d (1961) and Cher and Dionne\u2019s school girl outfits from the \u201990s film \u201cClueless\u201d (1995) were sprinkled in the mix.<\/span><\/p>\n Nearly 400 enthusiasts in attendance, the off-the-runway looks were just as interesting as on: <\/span>Miley Cyrus<\/span><\/a> appeared in all leather attire by Saint Laurent, Hailey Bieber sitting beside her donned a Mugler 2026 collection leather off-the-shoulder dress and <\/span>Halle Bailey<\/span><\/a> turned heads in a copper organza gown by Lever Couture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Opening up the finale, <\/span>Doja Cat<\/span><\/a> strutted the runway performing \u201cGorgeous,\u201d as she channeled <\/span>Tina Turner\u2019s<\/span><\/a> look from \u201cMad Max Beyond Thunderdome\u201d (1985). This last act brought forth the original costume selections from Denis Villeneuve\u2019s \u201c<\/span>Dune<\/span><\/a>\u201d (2021). The long silk gowns in shades of earth tones with draping sleeves and crystal head pieces cascading over the face continue to artistically stun audiences.<\/span><\/p>\n The extravagant 45-minute show was broadcast live, raising <\/span>$4.5 million<\/span><\/a>. Wintour declared that the funds will be allocated to the Entertainment Community Fund \u2014 a 501(c) charitable organization supporting performers and film workers in the performing arts and entertainment.<\/span><\/p>\n A significant number of costume designers were impacted by the recent Los Angeles wildfires, losing their cherished creations in the process.
