The move stems from a hearing Wednesday in the Delaware Bankruptcy Court.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThe court\u2019s ruling today will allow Alcon to complete its comprehensive purchase of the Village Roadshow assets,\u201d AMG CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson said in a statement.\u00a0\u201cAlcon looks forward to working collaboratively with Warner Bros, as we have for over a quarter-century, to partner in the exploitation of the derivative rights to these many great films across multiple platforms.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDerivative rights refer to the exclusive right of a copyright holder to authorize the creation of new projects based on an original copyrighted work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>PREVIOUSLY, June 10: <\/strong>Alcon Media Group LLC\u00a0has won its $417.5 million bid to acquire Village Roadshow Entertainment Group\u2019s library of 108 feature film titles, Alcon said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe deal includes Village Roadshow\u2019s entire library of intellectual properties, distribution rights and cash flows. The library includes rights and royalties to the motion pictures that the company co-produced and co-financed in association with Warner Bros since 1997, including such films as <em>Mad Max: Fury Road<\/em>, the <em>Ocean\u2019s Eleven<\/em> series, <em>The Matrix<\/em> trilogy, <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/joker\/\" id=\"auto-tag_joker\" data-tag=\"joker\">Joker<\/a><\/em>, <em>Ready Player One<\/em>, the <em>Sherlock Holmes <\/em>franchise, <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/wonka\/\" id=\"auto-tag_wonka\" data-tag=\"wonka\">Wonka<\/a><\/em> and others that collectively generate an estimated $50 million annually.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMore specifically: Alcon acquired the participations and the naked copyrights in the Warner Bros. films co-financed by Village. No other rights in the Warner Bros. films were part of this auction, including\u00a0distribution rights, which are owned by WB, and the right to co-finance derivative works.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tVillage Roadshow\u2019s assets also include a development slate of films and scripted and unscripted television series.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content-image \/\/  \">\n<figure class=\"o-figure   alignright size-medium alignright lrv-u-max-width-100p\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:300px;\">\n<div class=\"c-lazy-image  \">\n<div class=\"lrv-a-crop-16x9\" style=\"padding-bottom:calc((169\/300)*100%);\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tVillage Roadshow <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1236328231\" data-type=\"post\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/03\/village-roadshown-chapter-11-bankruptcy-warner-bros-arbitration-1236328231\/\">filed for bankruptcy protection<\/a> in March, and several entities had responded <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1236374525\" data-type=\"post\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/04\/may-date-set-for-bids-on-bankrupt-village-roadshow-the-matrix-1236374525\/\">with bids to acquire its assets<\/a>. Alcon entered as a \u201cstalking horse\u201d bidder soon after the filing and pursued the acquisition when the deal was approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The final days of Village Roadshow saw the production company late on its payments to writers, which drew the ire of the WGA West. Essentially, Village Roadshow\u2019s majority stakeholder,\u00a0Vine\u00a0Alternative Investments, the specialized asset manager of $1.3 billion investments, was having cash problems. This ultimately led to the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-id=\"1236265892\" data-type=\"post\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/01\/steve-mosko-exits-village-roadshow-ceo-1236265892\/\">departure of Village Roadshow CEO Steve Mosko<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBroderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, co-CEOs of Alcon Media Group and its production and financing group Alcon Entertainment, said in a statement today: \u201cWe are pleased to acquire Village Roadshow\u2019s library of major studio distributed feature films, which are accretive to Alcon\u2019s existing film library. We intend to continue to be opportunistic in the future as other attractive assets become available in the marketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAlcon\u2019s library already includes such movies as <em>Blade Runner 2049<\/em>, Oscar winner <em>The Blind Side<\/em>, Christopher Nolan\u2019s <em>Insomnia<\/em>, Denis Villeneuve\u2019s <em>Prisoners<\/em> and the recently rebooted <em>Garfield<\/em> franchise featuring Chris Pratt as the portly orange tabby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Village deal was negotiated on behalf of Alcon by the company\u2019s COO Scott Parish and CFO Jason Kummer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAlcon Media Group is represented by Loeb &amp; Loeb LLP.
