The Mummy franchise is officially back from the dead \u2014 and this time, the original stars may be returning to the tomb.<\/p>\n

When Was It Confirmed?<\/h2>\n

Rumors of a new Mummy movie began circulating after Deadline<\/a> reported that Universal Pictures is developing The Mummy 4 as a direct continuation of the original trilogy, not a reboot. The film is reportedly moving forward with a fresh creative team, and while Universal hasn\u2019t issued an official statement, the buzz intensified when screenwriter David Coggeshall<\/strong> (The Family Plan, The Deliverance) shared the article on X (formerly Twitter) with the cheeky caption: \u201cCat\u2019s out of the bag, I guess :).\u201d<\/p>\n

Are Brendan and Rachel Really Returning?<\/h2>\n

Brendan Fraser<\/strong> and Rachel Weisz<\/strong>, who played adventurer Rick O\u2019Connell and Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan, are said to be in early talks to reprise their iconic roles. Unlike the 2017 Mummy reboot starring Tom Cruise<\/strong>, this installment will reportedly ignore the events of 2008\u2019s Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and instead continue the story of the original O\u2019Connell family.<\/p>\n
