The original host of Dancing With the Stars (DWTS)<\/strong>, Tom Bergeron<\/strong>, is making a return to the show, but not as a host. He shared that he\u2019s going to be \u201csomewhat loose and unpredictable\u201d when he appears in this capacity.<\/p>\n DWTS\u2019 original host, Tom Bergeron, will return to the show as a judge for a night on \u201cThe 20th Birthday Party\u201d episode. Although his appearance is only for a single night, the former host has spoken about his excitement.<\/p>\n Bergeron told TV Insider<\/a> that he believes that it\u2019s going to be a \u201cwonderfully emotional, nostalgic night.\u201d The Emmy-winning host admitted that he \u201cproposed\u201d returning as a judge for the show\u2019s 20th anniversary.<\/p>\n \u201cI said, \u2018Look, I\u2019m just gonna charge you scale, but I want a nice donation to the Motion Picture & Television Fund, and I come back as a guest judge,\u2019\u201d Bergeron recalled. \u201cIf I came back and sat in the audience, I\u2019d go crazy. I\u2019m too fidgety and I\u2019m sure I\u2019d make some sort of trouble,\u201d the AFV host added.<\/p>\n Bergeron also credited his return to Conrad Green, DWTS\u2019 first showrunner, who departed from the show in 2014 and rejoined in 2022.<\/p>\n Bergeron was fired from the show in 2020. During an appearance on Cheryl Burke\u2019s podcast,\u00a0Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans, the host spoke about his disagreement with ABC on casting Sean Spicer, President Donald Trump\u2019s former Press Secretary (via Entertainment Weekly<\/a>).<\/p>\n Bergeron said that going into an election year, he felt that it wasn\u2019t the \u201cright time\u201d to cast a political figure. Nonetheless, the then-showrunner, Andrew Llinares, brought in Sean Spicer as a celebrity contestant. Due to this decision, the former admitted to feeling \u201cscrewed.\u201d<\/p>\n While Bergeron suggested that he should \u201ctake the season off,\u201d the showrunners instead decided to terminate his contract. Following his departure, Bergeron then expressed his disappointment and anger in a social media post.<\/p>\n Now, years after Green replaced Llinares as the showrunner, the former host is finally making an appearance in Season 34.<\/p>\n He also shared some details about what fans can expect during his episode. \u201cIn the audience will be a number of past champions and competitors,\u201d Bergeron revealed. \u201cThere\u2019s a special dance challenge that is going to factor into the anniversary night that will evoke even more nostalgia.
