Two young Alabama country stars have scored their second Top 10 duet, following a monster hit that won them some awards in 2025. And that\u2019s not the only iron that either of them has in the fire.<\/p>\n
Over the weekend, Billboard.com and other music-industry news sites took note of the accomplishment by Riley Green<\/a> and Ella Langley<\/a>. Billboard reported that their duet \u201cDon\u2019t Mind If I Do\u201d had made it into the No. 10 spot in the latest version of the Country Airplay chart thanks to a 20% jump in airplay audience.<\/p>\n Billboard.com underscored the rarity of the feat:<\/a> the last time a pair of artists racked up multiple shared Country Airplay Top 10s, according to the site, it was Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani in 2020 with \u201cNobody But You\u201d<\/a> and \u201cHappy Anywhere.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n The rising single follows \u201cYou Look Like You Love Me,\u201d a breakout hit that helped both artists ride high throughout 2025 and one that did a lot to raise Langley\u2019s profile in particular. Langley, who\u2019s from Hope Hull, and Green, a Jacksonville native, received multiple Academy of Country Music awards in May<\/a> thanks to the song and video.<\/p>\n The timeline goes back at least to 2024 for both songs. \u201cYou Look Like You Love Me\u201d was released in June 2024 and was featured on Langley\u2019s album \u201cHungover.\u201d Langley has described the writing process by saying that she and Aaron Raitiere co-wrote the initial version and Green added a verse. It topped Billboard\u2019s Country Airplay chart for a week in December 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n Green wrote \u201cDon\u2019t Mind If I Do\u201d and it\u2019s the title track of his third studio album, which was released in fall 2024. It wasn\u2019t released as a single until summer 2025. The two have performed the duet in plenty of high-profile showcases, including appearances on \u201cThe Voice,\u201d<\/a> the \u201cToday Show\u201d<\/a> and the Sand in My Boots festival<\/a> in Gulf Shores.<\/p>\n Green has recently perked up ears with yet another duet, one that involves a third artist with Alabama roots. On Friday, he and Jamey Johnson<\/a> released \u201cSmoke.\u201d<\/a> Johnson was born in Montgomery and grew up in Enterprise; he and Green both attended Jacksonville State University and will tour together again this month.<\/p>\n A headline at industry site whiskeyriff.com<\/a> described it as a \u201cclassic country leavin\u2019 song,\u201d but there\u2019s a catch: The lyrics strongly suggest that the protagonist\u2019s weed habit might have contributed to a breakup, and that it\u2019s definitely contributing to the getting-over of it.<\/p>\n The refrain: \u201cCouldn\u2019t see which way she went\/ Or which way I went wrong\/ Couldn\u2019t see why she left so early\/ Or why she stayed so long\/ There was something burning my eyes\/ Turning my head to stone\/ I bet it would\u2019ve hurt to watch her go\/ Good thing I can\u2019t see through all this smoke.\u201d<\/p>\n There\u2019s also a line about white smoke from a vehicle\u2019s tailpipe, but just to remove any doubt, Green comes in on a line that \u201cI\u2019m just one puff away from a brand-new state of mind.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSmoke\u201d isn\u2019t on Johnson\u2019s 2024 album \u201cMidnight Gasoline.\u201d For now, it\u2019s a freestanding single.<\/p>\n \u201cMidnight Sun\u201d was Johnson\u2019s first studio album in 14 years. In a recent interview,<\/a> he said that a concussion he suffered in 2010, and the alcohol abuse that followed, had seriously disrupted his life for years. He said he quit drinking in 2011 and gave up pot in 2015. Nowadays he \u201cmay still break out a joint \u2026 But I don\u2019t play games with the alcohol.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s not all about duets. Green\u2019s solo single \u201cChange My Mind\u201d<\/a> recently entered the Top 50 of Billboard\u2019s Hot County Songs Chart.
