While ABC’s “Golden Bachelor<\/a>,” Mel Owens, a Detroit native,<\/a> narrowed his decision for a romantic partner down to a pair of women, Wednesday night’s episode didn’t reveal his choice \u2014 but viewers did get a more insight to who he might choose ahead of the final rose ceremony.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t want to use the word [love] loosely\u2026it\u2019s a big deal. You can\u2019t use it and not mean it,\u201d Owens said.<\/p>\n Owen, 66, who began the season being introduced to 23 women who also were hoping to find a partner, has pared the contestants down to two: Cindy Cullers,<\/a> 60, a retired biomedical engineer from Austin, Texas, and Peg Munson, <\/a>62, a retired firefighter and bomb tech from Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n In the first part of the season finale, <\/a>Owens took both Cullers and Munson on their own versions of a perfect date in Antigua. Munson chose a dune buggy ride while Cullers’ date included a boat ride and swimming with stingrays.<\/p>\n The iconic “fantasy suite” dates, in which Owens and the women were offered the opportunity to spend the night together<\/a> behind closed doors, without cameras also was part of the episode.<\/p>\n In the final two-hour episode that airs Nov. 12, Owens will choose between the two women. Here’s what to know.<\/p>\n New episodes air weekly on Wednesdays on ABC, or any other platform that carries ABC. The final rose ceremony episode of “Golden Bachelor” and the “After the Final Rose reunion” will air Wednesday, Nov. 12.<\/p>\n Nobody went home last Wednesday. The episode focused on final dates with Owens’ remaining women. The previous week, the already-eliminated women talked with host Jesse Palmer and shared information about each other and Owens.<\/p>\n Owens was born and raised in Detroit and his “athleticism shone through from an early age,” according to his bio on ABC.<\/p>\n The former NFL player turned lawyer’s father taught Diana Ross<\/a> in school while the family lived in Detroit.<\/p>\n Owens<\/a> played linebacker for the University of Michigan from 1977 to 1980, earned All-Big Ten recognition before being drafted ninth overall in the 1981 NFL Draft by the\u00a0Los Angeles Rams<\/a>.<\/p>\n Owens earned his juris doctorate from the University of California\u2019s Hastings College of the Law and is now a partner at\u00a0NBO Law<\/a>\u00a0in Orange County.<\/p>\n His legal practice primarily focuses on sports injuries, workers\u2019 comp, and disability benefits, according to his law firm \u2014 areas close to home for a former athlete.<\/p>\n He met his “first love,” <\/a>when he was working as a lawyer, and together, they had two sons,” Owens’ ABC bio said, adding life later “took an unexpected turn” as his father,\u00a0professional baseball player Walter Owens<\/a>, passed and his marriage fell apart.<\/p>\n Owens married Fabiana Pimental in 2002 and they had two sons.
