LONDON \u2014 House Democrats investigating convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s <\/a>sex trafficking sent the U.K.’s former Prince Andrew<\/a> a letter Thursday requesting a formal interview seeking information about the deceased financier\u2019s co-conspirators and enablers.<\/p>\n \u201cWell-documented allegations against you, along with your long-standing friendship with Mr. Epstein, indicate that you may possess knowledge of his activities relevant to our investigation,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n Earlier, King Charles III formally stripped his brother Andrew Mountbatten Windsor<\/a> of the title of prince, using a formal document affixed with a royal seal. <\/p>\n The disgraced royal has also lost the designation \u201chis royal highness\u201d after the king issued a Letters Patent, a centuries-old type of document used by monarchs to bestow \u2014 and remove \u2014 appointments or titles.<\/p>\n An announcement published Wednesday in The Gazette \u2014 the U.K.\u2019s official public record \u2014 said \u201cTHE KING has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 3 November 2025 to declare that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to hold and enjoy the style, title or attribute of \u2018Royal Highness\u2019 and the titular dignity of \u2018Prince.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The king also formally removed the title Duke of York from his brother.<\/p>\n The king announced on Oct. 30 that he was removing his brother\u2019s titles and evicting him from his royal residence over his relationship with Epstein.<\/p>\n Demand had been growing on the palace to oust the 65-year-old prince from his Royal Lodge home over new revelations about his friendship with Epstein and renewed attention on sexual abuse allegations by one of Epstein\u2019s victims, Virginia Roberts Giuffre<\/a>, whose posthumous memoir was published last month.<\/p>\n
