NBA star LeBron James has his own sense of style that he’s known for, but reveals there was one TV character growing up that he couldn’t wait to watch to see what they were wearing.<\/p>\n
Talking to designer and entrepreneur Melody Ehsani on Uninterrupted<\/a>, James was asked what his favorite TV show was, and revealed it was none other than The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The reasoning behind his answer was because of how influential Will Smith’s character was.<\/p>\n “I used to get excited about what Will Smith was wearing on the show,” said James. “You know, from the baggy jackets to what shoes he was wearing. The matching tie-dye outfits, you know, with the shorts and the T-shirt.”<\/p>\n The basketball star also added how Will’s character would often wear trucker hats or add some flair to the accessory by wearing them with the brim turned backwards.<\/p>\n Fashion was full of color, geometric shapes, fun designs, quirky prints, and bold accessories that defined the era\u2019s carefree energy. From oversized jackets and high-top sneakers to neon windbreakers and snapback hats, the ‘Fresh Prince’ aesthetic captured the playful spirit of \u201990s streetwear and hip-hop culture.<\/p>\n On top of the Will’s fashion, James gravitated towards the character for being himself in a predominantly rich Hollywood environment.<\/p>\n “I just thought he was cool because he was like an inner-city kid in Beverly Hills like acting a fool, being himself \u2014 and they had to accept him for who he was,” said James.<\/p>\n Fresh Prince became one of Will Smith’s most iconic characters early in his career. It aired on NBC from Sept. 10, 1990, to May 20, 1996, and ended its run after six seasons. Smith played a fictionalized version of himself as a teen born and raised in Philadelphia by his single mom.
