The Celebrity Traitors has raised a huge sum of money for charity, with the contestants building a prize pot worth \u00a387,000. It’s a change from the regular civilian series in which the players are competing to take home the banked cash – so do the celebs get paid at all?<\/p>\n
The BBC has not officially commented on the money that the competitors have earned, but unconfirmed reports have suggested that they do take home a fee.<\/p>\n
Speaking on The Rest Is Entertainment<\/a> podcast back in in July, host Marina Hyde suggested one particular number.<\/p>\n “Although we haven\u2019t seen the celebrity iteration yet, we know it\u2019s going to be massive,” she said at the time.<\/p>\n \u201cLook at the calibre of the people they got. They were able to pay everybody a blanket \u00a340k fee, right? They\u2019re paying them a \u00a340k fee.”<\/p>\n BBC<\/span><\/p>\n Related: Celebrity Traitors’ Alan Carr gives update on friendship with Paloma Faith after murdering her<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Just last month, the Daily Mail<\/a> reported the same number – but again, the BBC has not commented.<\/p>\n The show has certainly been worth the money for producers, with it becoming the biggest series of the year<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ratings have been huge, with recent data from Barb revealing that the first episode won a mighty 12.5 million viewers in its first seven days; a clear winner for that particular week.<\/p>\n It escalated even more in week two, with the third episode netting 13.2 million in its first week \u2013 more than 5 million higher than its closest rival, Strictly Come Dancing, which achieved 7.4 million in the same timeframe.<\/p>\n BBC<\/span><\/p>\n Related: <\/strong>Best streaming services<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Going into the final, the odds seemed stacked against Alan Carr and Cat Burns, with Joe Marler and Nick Mohammed both (correctly) convinced that they are the remaining Traitors.<\/p>\n The question has been whether they convince historian David Olusoga and secure a Faithful victory.<\/p>\n Carr will continue to be a huge TV presence: his hit sitcom Changing Ends is back on ITV later this month, and he’ll also compete in the second season<\/a> of the hit Prime Video show LOL: Last One Laughing.<\/p>\n Appearing on This Morning this week, reigning champion Bob Mortimer teased: “It’s very difficult not to laugh. Can you imagine the problem Alan had trying not to laugh? He’s a giggler.”<\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n
