He succeeds Brooks Sherman, who has moved into a new role as the club\u2019s president of real estate and development.<\/p>\n<p><!----><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an opportunity and fit that I never would have dreamed of,\u201d Maxey said in a news release. \u201cThe Royals are known throughout the industry for how much they care about the Kansas City region and their fans.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking with this homegrown ownership group that\u2019s invested so much already with plans of doing even more to strengthen this community is an honor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!----><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Maxey arrives from the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. He spent two decades there in various roles.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Sherman will shift his focus toward the Royals\u2019 pursuit of a new stadium. The club hopes to decide upon a preferred location in the near future.<\/p>\n<p><!----><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>This week, Royals <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/news\/local\/article312762990.html\">unveiled a fan survey<\/a> designed to solicit feedback on a variety of topics. As for the future of their playing venue, the Royals are considering potential sites <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/news\/local\/article308037740.html\">in or near downtown Kansas City<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/news\/local\/article312534132.html\">Clay County\/North Kansas City<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/news\/local\/article311695770.html\">Johnson County\/Overland Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!----><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The states of Kansas and Missouri have extended separate offers designed to help fund a potential stadium. The Royals have reiterated that they do not intend to continue playing at Kauffman Stadium once their lease expires after the 2030 season.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that Cullen\u2019s proven leadership and relevant experience will fit the organization strategically, operationally, and culturally,\u201d Royals owner John Sherman, no relation to Brooks Sherman, said in the news release announcing the front-office moves.<\/p>\n<p><!----><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis also allows Brooks to focus on our next home and the surrounding mixed-use development that will help define our future. I\u2019m grateful for Cullen\u2019s trust and confidence and know that along with what J.J.
