The witches are back. Ahead of the release<\/a> of Wicked: For Good<\/em>, Universal Pictures has teased the film\u2019s brand new songs<\/a>, \u201cThe Girl in the Bubble\u201d and \u201cNo Place Like Home.\u201d The full versions will be released as part of the film\u2019s soundtrack on Nov. 21.<\/p>\n Ariana Grande performs \u201cThe Girl in the Bubble,\u201d a reflective ballad that sees her character Glinda questioning what\u2019s below the surface. \u201cThere goes that beautiful girl with a beautiful life,\u201d she belts. \u201cSuch a beautiful life built on lies.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n Cynthia Erivo performs \u201cNo Place Like Home,\u201d an anthemic ballad where her character Elphaba wonders why she still feels such a kinship with Oz. \u201cWhy do I love this place that\u2019s never loved me?\u201d she sings. \u201cBut there\u2019s no place like home.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe Girl in the Bubble\u201d and \u201cNo Place Like Home\u201d were written by composer Stephen Schwartz specifically for Wicked: For Good<\/em> and are not part of the stage show. Because they are original songs for the movie it is likely both will be eligible to be nominated for the Oscar for Best Original Song (unlike the other songs from the films).<\/p>\n Director Jon M. Chu recently assured moviegoers with a particular attachment to the original soundtrack that the filmmaking team wouldn\u2019t have added them if they weren\u2019t essential. \u201cEven after we recorded them, even after we put them in the movie,\u201d he told\u00a0EW<\/a>, \u201cwe kicked the tires on them to make sure that we had to put them in this movie.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cGlinda is the one that has to ultimately pop her own bubble. She has to leave her privilege to actually see other people\u2019s struggles and fight for justice and equality. Both of these songs are about how to do that, and it\u2019s questions that I\u2019ve always wanted to hear from them in the stage show, but never got to. We get to take our time and explore those questions.\u201d<\/p>\n Wicked: For Good<\/em>\u00a0hits theaters on Nov. 21, 2025. Along with Grande and Erivo,\u00a0the film stars Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard.
