House Oversight Democrats are calling on the embattled British royal Andrew Mountbatten Windsor \u2014 who had his titles stripped by his brother, King Charles III, last week \u2014 to sit for an interview as part of their probe into Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n

\u201cRich and powerful men have evaded justice for far too long,\u201d Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the committee, said in a press release. \u201cNow, former Prince Andrew has the opportunity to come clean and provide justice for the survivors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The member of the British royal family, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was stripped of his \u201cstyle, titles and honours\u201d by King Charles III last week and forced to leave his lavish longtime home, Royal Lodge. Andrew has since agreed to move to a cottage on the royal family\u2019s Sandringham estate.<\/p>\n

The move comes after years of embarrassing headlines for the royal family stemming from his documented connections<\/u><\/a><\/span> to Epstein.<\/p>\n

Andrew was sued<\/u><\/a><\/span> in 2019 by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein\u2019s accusers, who accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was 17 years old.<\/p>\n

According to the lawsuit, the king\u2019s brother abused Giuffre on multiple occasions when she was under 18.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Royal Family\u2019s actions stripping Andrew of his titles show there is more to this story. Ranking Member Garcia and I will not stop pushing for answers and accountability,\u201d Rep. Suhas Subramanyam wrote.<\/p>\n

Representatives of the House Oversight Committee do not have authority to subpoena Andrew, given he is a British citizen, but asked him to respond to their inquiry by Nov. 20.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Committee is seeking to uncover the identities of Mr. Epstein\u2019s co-conspirators and enablers and to understand the full extent of his criminal operations,\u201d the lawmakers wrote<\/u><\/a><\/span>. \u201cWell-documented allegations against you, along with your long-standing friendship with Mr. Epstein, indicate that you may possess knowledge of his activities relevant to our investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
