Of Monsters and Men shares<\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Of Monsters and Men (OMAM) rose to fame after their 2011 debut, &#8220;My Head Is an Animal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">After breaking out with &#8220;Little Talks,&#8221; they&#8217;ve played &#8220;Saturday Night Live,&#8221; made a cameo on HBO&#8217;s &#8220;Game of Thrones&#8221; and created tunes for &#8220;The Hunger Games&#8221; and &#8220;The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.&#8221; The group dropped their last record, &#8220;Fever Dream,&#8221; in 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">After releasing an EP, a documentary, and prioritizing solo projects, the band is back on the road in promotion of their new album.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Co-singers and lyricists Nanna Hilmarsd\u00f3ttir and \u00de\u00f3rhallsson quietly crafted the record in Reykjav\u00edk over the past two years, gathering in the studio around 10 each morning and getting to work over a bad pot of coffee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Mouse Parade&#8221; was self-produced by the band, along with help from Josh Kaufman (The National, Bob Weird, Bonny Light Horseman) and Bjarni \u00de\u00f3r Jensson on a couple tracks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Inspired by their own lives, families, communities and the generations that came before them, Hilmarsd\u00f3ttir and \u00de\u00f3rhallsson found that the world is full of everyone&#8217;s own &#8220;mouse parade,&#8221; ones comprised of stories big and small.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">For \u00de\u00f3rhallsson, &#8220;some of it is, of course, a little bit depressing,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;But it&#8217;s not a depressing album. For \u00de\u00f3rhallsson, a Nashville legend inspired much of the album&#8217;s storytelling: <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tennessean.com\/story\/entertainment\/music\/2020\/04\/07\/john-prine-obituary-singer-songwriter-covid-19\/1807915001\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:John Prine;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">John Prine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;He&#8217;s been a big influence on my lyrics,&#8221; he said. &#8220;For the last two years, I&#8217;m quite simple when it comes to music. I just put him on and he makes me feel good.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u00de\u00f3rhallsson connected with &#8220;<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tennessean.com\/story\/entertainment\/music\/2018\/03\/28\/john-prine-tree-forgiveness-album\/402663002\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Tree of Forgiveness;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Tree of Forgiveness<\/a>,&#8221; Prine&#8217;s 18th and final album from April 2018. When you hear lyrics like (Prine&#8217;s) that are exploring the gray area, you&#8217;re kind of OK with the pain and OK with the happiness. It&#8217;s not so black and white.
