Hollywood star Glen Powell has said he is indebted to fellow actor Tom Cruise for his advice on performing stunts, as he warned him to \u201cfilm yourself running because you don\u2019t look as cool as you think you do\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was so right,\u201d Powell said, as he appeared on BBC One\u2019s The Graham Norton Show on Friday.<\/p>\n
Also on the programme as a guest was comedian Jack Whitehall, who told Norton about hosting a jewellery awards event in Monaco, which resulted in \u201ctumbleweed\u201d from the audience when he joked about the recent heist at the Louvre Museum in Paris.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was wondering what on earth I could talk about when the comedy gods delivered the Louvre heist,\u201d Whitehall said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t speak French, so I had no idea that the woman that came on before me said the robbery was one of the most tragic things that had ever happened to the French people, and on I come with a high viz vest with a load of prop jewellery.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I said, \u2018Who wants Napoleon\u2019s tiara?\u2019, it was tumbleweed. It was horrendous.\u201d<\/p>\n
Powell, who has starred in films including Hit Man and Twisters, told Norton about being given advice on performing his own stunts by action star Cruise.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cTom rang me to give me the lowdown and what I thought would be a 10 minute call lasted two-and-a-half hours.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe basically told me how not to die! He also gave me running lessons. He said, \u2018You should film yourself running because you don\u2019t look as cool as you think you do\u2019. He was so right!\u201d<\/p>\n
Powell, who was on Norton\u2019s show to talk about the upcoming dystopian action thriller The Running Man, said he had to \u201cabseil down eight storeys of a building in freezing conditions, half naked\u201d for the film.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe crazy thing I found out after was that there was a guy whose only job was to stop me kicking a window \u2013 which means he was looking up my skirt all night \u2013 I wondered what he was seeing take after take!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Powell and Whitehall were joined on the sofa by actresses Rosamund Pike and Michelle Yeoh, and singer Ed Sheeran, who performed his single Camera live in the studio.<\/p>\n
Whitehall, who also discussed playing a villainous \u201cmanny\u201d in the new TV series Malice, said: \u201cIt has the vibe of White Lotus and Mr Ripley.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was such a different role for me as I\u2019m playing a proper villain. It was really fun.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had just become a dad and was hiring a nanny when I was filming it, so my level of questioning was intense.\u201d<\/p>\n
