In an interview with the Times of London published Saturday, Kym Kyrath, who played 5-year-old Gretl in \u201cThe Sound of Music,\u201d accused the late producer Patrick Curtis of raping her when she was 15. Kyrath added that there were \u201cpedophile-ish people\u201d around her as she grew up in Hollywood, and her parents were often worried about the dynamics at hand.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter I did\u00a0Brady Bunch, I was 13 going on 18, in terms of looking very physically mature. There were some very scary offers and pedophile-ish people who were circulating,\u201d she said. Kyrath added that she believes Curtis, who died in 2022, assaulted others.<\/p>\n
More from TheWrap<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI heard some stories from somebody who was in a position to know \u2014 there were other young people,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Curtis, an occasional actor most closely associated with his marriage to Raquel Welch, reportedly appeared as an infant in \u201cGone With the Wind\u201d and worked behind the scenes in film and TV. He backed several films starring Welch, including \u201cThe Sorcerers\u201d and \u201cA Swingin\u2019 Summer.\u201d<\/p>\n Karath didn\u2019t tell anyone what happened right away, \u201cbut my parents kind of figured out what happened,\u201d she explained. \u201cI couldn\u2019t say much to them because I was afraid my father would go and literally murder the guy and I didn\u2019t want my dad to go to jail.\u201d<\/p>\n Her parents told her to quit acting and focus on school \u2013 something she agrees with in retrospect. \u201cIt was the safe thing to do. It was really a terrible, frightening period of time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Karath ultimately graduated from USC and moved to Paris in her early 20s. She fell in love, got married, and then gave birth to her son \u2013 who contracted viral meningitis and ended up with a long-term mental disability \u2014 and planned to begin acting again shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n \u201cI have not gone back to acting quite honestly because my son is really the center of my life,\u201d she said. \u201cHe lives with me, he\u2019s 34 and needs me. I can\u2019t drop everything to go to auditions.\u201d<\/p>\n The actress publicly tweeted a photo of herself at age 14 in 2017 during the MeToo movement. \u201cI think everybody who went through that needed to add their voices so that it all changed,\u201d she told The Times. \u201cI was really ecstatically happy for what happened with the MeToo movement.
