Hilary Duff<\/a> is grown now.<\/p>\n The “Lizzie McGuire<\/a>” actress and singer has released her new single “Mature<\/a>,” marking a return to music a decade after her last album.<\/p>\n A bubbly, ’80s-tinged pop record, “Mature” sees Duff sings about her younger self dating someone older, before leaving such naivety behind. “She looks like sh\u0435 could be your daughter \/ Like me before I got smarter,” she sings. “When I was flattered to hear you say \/ ‘You’re so mature for your age, babe.'”<\/p>\n The track, a piece of “autofiction” according to a release, was co-written by Duff, 38, her husband, Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Matthew Koma<\/a>, and singer-songwriter Madison Love.<\/p>\n “‘Mature’ is a little conversation that my present self is having with my younger self,” Duff said in the release. “The two of us are reflecting on a past experience and sending love to each other. It’s a chuckle, a wink, and a sense of being grateful that we are sure footed in where we landed.”<\/p>\n Duff was romantically linked to Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden when she was 16 and he was 25. Madden went on to marry Nicole Richie<\/a>, with Duff later marrying Koma in 2019 after her split from her ex-husband, hockey player Mike Comrie.<\/p>\n “It’s definitely about a brief experience that I had a long, long time ago,” Duff told Vogue<\/a> about the song. “It was extremely therapeutic to write about things that a normal conversation doesn’t really give you the opportunity to.”<\/p>\n Duff released the music video<\/a> the same day.<\/p>\nWatch Hilary Duff music video for ‘Mature’<\/h2>\n
