Folks who know Colt Ford\u2019s story know it\u2019s pretty darned miraculous.<\/p>\n
The guy died \u2014 twice \u2014 last year when he collapsed with a heart attack following a show. Obviously, he was brought back both times, and he has recovered to the point that he is back out there on the road touring. <\/p>\n
And this week, while speaking with Taste of Country<\/b><\/a>, he revealed something pretty out of this world about his near-death experience.<\/p>\n \u201cThere was a bell, it was a bright light and Toby stepped out and said, \u2018They\u2019re not ready for you yet Little Dog, go on back down there,\u2019\u201d Ford said. \u201cThat\u2019s how I woke up. I literally just opened my eyes. I didn\u2019t know what happened. I didn\u2019t know anything had transpired.\u201d<\/p>\n Ford told Taste of Country that he and Keith were \u201csuper close\u201d when the singer was alive, and that Keith used to call him \u201cLittle Dog Daddy.\u201d<\/p>\n You can read more about it here.<\/p>\n Ford collapsed following a show in early April of 2024. He revealed some of the details of his medical ordeal later that month when he called in to the Big D and Bubba radio show from his hospital bed.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been a traumatic, crazy experience,\u201d Ford told the hosts. \u201cI didn\u2019t even remember coming out here to do a show in Phoenix.\u201d<\/p>\n Ford had just stepped back onto his tour bus after performing at Dierks Bentley\u2019s Whiskey Row bar when he texted his fianc\u00e9e, \u2018Hi baby.\u2018\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then I fell over dead,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Ford said that, luckily, his band came out to check on him and found him. And, he said, Gilbert got involved in getting him to the hospital and, eventually, making sure he was switched to another hospital when the one they were at didn\u2019t have the correct equipment to deal with Ford\u2019s heart situation.<\/p>\n \u201cHe said, \u2018I don\u2019t care what you do, get him to the other hospital,\u2018\u201d Ford said of Gilbert.<\/p>\n Ford said he died during transport to the other hospital.<\/p>\n \u201cThey brought me back,\u201d he said. \u201cThey saved my life. The Lord had more for me to do.\u201d<\/p>\n He added that one of his doctors told him he would not have given him a 1-percent chance to live.<\/p>\n \u201cHe said, I would give you a .1 percent chance that you would have survived,\u2018\u201d Ford said. \u201cI had so much trauma in my body and my heart,\u201d he said. \u201cI had three stints put in (my heart).\u201d<\/p>\n Ford, who has worked closely with Keith, Jamey Johnson and Jason Aldean, has had his share of health issues. He also reportedly had eye cancer and had to undergo surgery three years ago to deal with that.<\/p>\n Ford, whose real name is Jason Farris Brown, is a former professional golfer.
