Country music star Raul Malo shared an update with his fans on Wednesday as he continues to battle stage 4 cancer and Leptomeningeal Disease.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a fun post today,\u201d Malo shared on Facebook along with several photos and videos. <\/b><\/a>\u201cHad a great day today in Houston. Yesterday I had a procedure done that installs a filter to keep blood clots from coming up in the legs and into the lungs and making things worse. I don\u2019t remember the name of it. As I basically say yes to whatever the heck they want to do to me. Checked out around noon and paid a visit to my buddy Snit @rockinrobinhouston (one of my favorite guitar stores). <\/p>\n \u201cAnyways, in the flood of 2010 I lost this @officialgretsch and I never replaced her,\u201d he continued. \u201cMy beautiful wife surprised me and bought it for me. Then we went to @Kenny&Ziggs for a delicious lunch. Then we went to @citygear for some sneaker love. Big daddy had a great day today! Lol. Then I got the cutest reception from the girls back at the hotel!! Tomorrow I have a couple of doc appointments, and that\u2019s about it. There will be other scans later on this week, etc. Anyways, life is good her in H-Town. I couldn\u2019t wish more for u.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy husband and I love you, Raul,\u201d another wrote. \u201cJust know that I have burned candles in your honor after Mass!\u201d<\/p>\n There were plenty more posts like that and you can see those as well as Malo\u2019s post here.<\/p>\n Malo had been battling stage 4 cancer since last year, but in late September he gave the heartbreaking update that he has developed Leptomeningeal Disease.<\/p>\n \u201cDear Friends, I want to update you all on my health, as things have taken a turn,\u201d he wrote on Facebook. \u201cAs it goes with cancer, it\u2019s a very unpredictable and indiscriminatory disease. I\u2019ve developed something called LMD, which stands for \u2018get this (expletive) out of my head.\u2019 Treatment for this is radiation, which I will start tomorrow. We will probably jump into some chemo and are even looking at alternative therapies. But it\u2019s time to take to heart your words of resting & recovering, so that\u2019s what I\u2019m going to do.<\/p>\n \u201cUnfortunately, this does mean all shows going forward are cancelled, but we\u2019ll continue doing cool projects, releasing live recordings, merchandise, Trovador and so forth,\u201d he continued. \u201cI want to thank Dwight Yoakam, his band, and crew for their kindness and understanding this year, and sorry we couldn\u2019t finish the tour the way we planned. Hang on to your tickets for the Ryman in December, as we are planning something special there, and hope to announce that very soon.\u201d<\/p>\n Malo then reassured fans about how he is doing.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I want to let everybody know, I am in no way alone, or scared,\u201d he said. \u201cI have an amazing wife and boys, wonderful family, team, road crew, band, friends and fans. I don\u2019t even have enough words to describe the love and support that I\u2019m getting right now. To my friends who have sent me texts and messages, I want you to know that I\u2019ve read them all. I can\u2019t return them all, but your love, prayers, and well wishes have not gone unnoticed.<\/p>\n \u201cWe don\u2019t know what this will look like a couple months from now, but we are going into it like we have with everything else,\u201d Malo continued. \u201cFull steam ahead. Fight, recover, rest, repeat. I want to thank you all for your incredible support through all this, & sorry about the cancellations but we not choice anymore. Find kindness and empathy out there wherever you can. Humans are alright, even if you don\u2019t believe it from what you see on TV.
