\u201cReal Time<\/a>\u201d host Bill Maher<\/a> on Friday got into a heated on-air spat with former Fox News<\/a> host Bill O\u2019Reilly<\/a>, who was presenting his theory about Maher\u2019s gripes with the Democratic Party<\/a> and the \u201cfringe garbage\u201d concerns of its leftmost wing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The duo was discussing this week\u2019s various elections, where Democrats won key races<\/a> across the country. They were notably expressing mutual disapproval of New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani<\/a> and democratic socialism.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Then the bickering began.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cYou\u2019re disenchanted with the far-left wing of the Democratic Party,\u201d O\u2019Reilly told Maher<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The HBO host has repeatedly maintained as much<\/a> on his show over the years<\/a>, and agreed with O\u2019Reilly\u2019s stance that leftists have supposedly \u201cpoisoned the well for everybody else.\u201d Maher claimed they\u2019ve \u201cnever met anything that was counterintuitive that they didn\u2019t love.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cRight,\u201d said O\u2019Reilly. \u201cSo they want to put trans people in here, and they want to do this, and it just dilutes the message that the Democratic Party has traditionally had \u2014 that we\u2019re for the workers, we want to improve the lives of the backbone of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n When the conservative pundit added that Maher presumably isn\u2019t fond of \u201call this fringe garbage that Americans don\u2019t want,\u201d the comedian interjected, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t put it that way, but go ahead.\u201d The moment prompted rabid applause from Maher\u2019s studio audience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cOK, but you might want to rethink, because that\u2019s a good way to put it,\u201d O\u2019Reilly argued.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Maher sniped back, bragging, \u201cWell, I\u2019m still on the air and you\u2019re not.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n O\u2019Reilly was fired from Fox News in 2017<\/a> following sexual harassment allegations from numerous colleagues. A bombshell New York Times report<\/a> indicated at the time that O\u2019Reilly and Fox News had paid some $13 million in settlements to address the complaints.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The former \u201cO\u2019Reilly Factor\u201d host shared a smile with Maher before motioning to the crowd to relax, stating, \u201cI expected that.\u201d He then countered Maher\u2019s brag with a boast of his own.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
