Golden Globe actor Jennifer Lawrence announced she is co-producing a Miss Piggy movie for Disney, alongside fellow Oscar-winner Emma Stone.<\/p>\n
Lawrence revealed the news during a recent interview on the Las Culturistas Podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know if I can announce this, but I\u2019m just gonna. Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n The Hunger Games actor added that Cole Escola, who starred in the award-winning Broadway comedy \u201cOh, Mary!\u201d is writing the script.<\/p>\n When asked if she and Stone would appear in the film, Lawrence replied, \u201cI think so\u201d adding that \u201cit\u2019s [expletive] up\u201d they haven\u2019t been in a movie together already.<\/p>\n Lawrence expanded on the film\u2019s origins during a \u201cTonight Show<\/a>” appearance on Wednesday, telling host Jimmy Fallon that she and her friend came up with the idea during the pandemic lockdown and at the height of \u201ccancel culture.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe said, \u2018Miss Piggy is a feminist icon. It would be so funny if Miss Piggy got canceled,\u2019\u201d Lawrence recalled. \u201cNow that is not the plot necessarily,\u201d she clarified. \u201cBut it got the wheels turning.\u201d<\/p>\n Miss Piggy began as a chorus pig on \u201cThe Muppet Show\u201d in the mid-1970s before gaining a larger role in the series during the late 1970s and early 1980s, according to Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n The diva puppet is also famously known for her on-again, off-again relationship with The Muppet\u2019s lead character, Kermit the Frog.
