Pete Davidson returned to Saturday Night Live for an unscheduled bit on Weekend Update, poking fun at his investment in a Staten Island Ferry and defending New York<\/a>‘s new mayor Zohran Mamdani.<\/p>\n

Co-anchor Colin Jost, who bought the ferry with Davidson<\/a> in 2022, introduced him after The New York Times labeled their venture a “money-losing fiasco.”<\/p>\n

Davidson opened with a shrug. “What\u2019s up,” he said. “Yeah, if you’re wondering why I did a show in Saudi Arabia, it’s because we\u2019re hemorrhaging cash on this ferry.”<\/p>\n

He said he hadn\u2019t read the Times article himself. “I can\u2019t spend five bucks on a paywall. I\u2019ve got a kid on the way.”<\/p>\n

Jost congratulated him on the news. “Thanks,” Davidson replied. “I\u2019m pumped to be a dad. I plan to put in way more effort than I ever did here.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Turning to the camera, he spoke to Staten Islanders upset about the outcome. “If you swore you\u2019d leave New York if Mamdani won, but you\u2019ve got too many warrants in Jersey and not enough guns for Florida<\/a>, welcome to New Staten Island.”<\/p>\n

He paused. “It\u2019ll have everything that makes Staten Island great. The pizza.”<\/p>\n

Jost asked, “That\u2019s the whole list?”<\/p>\n

“Yep,” Davidson replied. “We had to drop the \u2018Titanic\u2019 name, though. Too many passengers on this boat actually like<\/em> crashing into ice.”<\/p>\n

Wrapping up, Davidson said, “I still got it. This is gonna be a big year.”<\/p>\n

Jost nodded. “The ferry\u2019s fine,” Davidson added. “The media just makes things look worse than they are.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
