King Charles led the nation in tribute on Remembrance Sunday,
\nlaying a wreath at the Cenotaph following two minutes of
\nsilence.<\/p>\n

The King was dressed in the Field Marshal ceremonial frock coat
\nuniform with a poppy and sword, and laid a wreath styled after
\nthose of his grandfather, King George VI. The King\u2019s wreath
\nfeatured 41 open-style fabric poppy petals on a bed of black leaves
\nwith a ribbon in his racing colours: scarlet, purple and gold.<\/p>\n

King Charles entered the military in 1971, having received his
\nRoyal Air Force Wings from RAF Cranwell that March.<\/p>\n

In September 1971, he began training at the Royal Naval College
\nin Dartmouth and followed up that six-week course with stints
\naboard the HMS Norfolk and other frigates.<\/p>\n

He received his helicopter pilot qualifications in 1974 and
\ncompleted his active military service in 1976 in the Royal
\nNavy.<\/p>\n

Now, as King,
\nKing Charles is head of the Armed Forces in the United Kingdom,
\nCanada, Australia and New Zealand; and holds many military
\nappointments throughout the Commonwealth.<\/h5>\n

Ahead of Remembrance Sunday\u2019s service, The Royal Family\u2019s social
\nmedia accounts shared a
\nphoto<\/a> from the First World War and captioned it, \u201cAt the
\ngoing down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember
\nthem.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

King Charles also led the Royal Family at
\nlast night\u2019s Festival of Remembrance<\/a> ceremony at Royal Albert
\nHall.<\/p>\n

On 11 November, The King and Queen Camilla will host a reception
\nat Windsor Castle to commemorate the 80th<\/sup> anniversary of
\nVJ Day. Among the invited guests are veterans who served in the
\nPacific Theatre and their families. Their Majesties will be joined
\nby The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Edinburgh, and The Duchess of
\nGloucester.<\/p>\n
