Chris Cornell<\/strong> was honored by his family at the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. On Nov. 8, the late Soundgarden singer, who died in 2017, was remembered at the band\u2019s induction ceremony by his eldest daughter Lily, who posthumously inducted him into the Rock Hall alongside Jim Carrey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n After performances of \u201cRusty Cage\u201d and \u201cBlack Hole Sun\u201d by the surviving Soundgarden members and some all-star friends, Cornell\u2019s daughter, Toni, took the stage to perform an acoustic version<\/a> of the song \u201cFell on Black Days\u201d with Heart legend Nancy Wilson<\/strong> on guitar. Toni delivered a powerful performance of the song that her father wrote for Soundgarden\u2019s 1995 album \u201cSuperunknown.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans reacted to the performance on social media, with many calling it \u201cbeautiful\u201d and \u201cemotional.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBeautiful tribute to her Dad. Her voice is amazing. It holds the same emotional power as her Dad,” one commenter wrote on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cBeautifully haunting. God I wish Chris was alive to see all this,\u201d another fan wrote<\/a> on Reddit.<\/p>\n Following the performance, Toni, 21, told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> she was \u201chonored\u201d to perform at the ceremony in tribute to her father. Of the song choice, she explained, \u201cEveryone can relate that song on so many levels, like I fell on black days. We\u2019ve all been there. So I personally related to that, and I really wanted to channel how my dad would have performed that song on his own.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI just wish he were here to see this tremendous honor for himself,\u201d she added. \u201cI know how proud he would have been, but he\u2019s the only reason why I do music, so being here and being able to share my voice because of him, is amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n This is not the first time Toni has delivered a heart-wrenching performance. In 2021, she appeared on The Tonight Show<\/em> to perform a moving rendition of the ballad \u201cNothing Compares 2 U,\u201d which was featured on her father\u2019s posthumous covers compilation album, No One Sings Like You Anymore, Vol. 1,<\/em> per Billboard<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n She also performed an acoustic rendition of Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike” for MusiCares\u2019 COVID-19 relief efforts in 2021.<\/p>\n \u201cSitting in my dad’s home studio during this crazy time makes me miss him even more,\u201d Toni wrote on Instagram<\/a> at the time. \u201cMusic is the greatest healer and the most powerful way to bring people together, especially during tragedy. If my dad were here, I know he would have been the first to donate his time and effort.
