The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame paid homage to Sly Stone<\/strong> Saturday during its 2025 induction ceremony with a musical tribute featuring Stevie Wonder<\/strong>, Maxwell<\/strong>, Leon Thomas<\/strong> and Jennifer Hudson<\/strong>. They performed Stone songs \u201cEveryday People,” \u201cThank You\u201d and \u201cHigher,” with Questlove<\/strong> on drums, Flea<\/strong> of Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/strong> on bass, and Beck<\/strong> on guitar and backing vocals.<\/p>\n The tribute kicked off a night that saw many artists celebrated\u00a0for their musical contributions, including Salt-N-Pepa<\/strong> and Outkast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Missy Elliott<\/strong> inducted Salt-N-Pepa,\u00a0calling them “one of the greatest teachers in hip-hop,” before\u00a0they performed “My Mic Sounds Nice,” “Shoop,” “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “Push It” and\u00a0“Whatta Man,” featuring a special appearance from En Vogue <\/strong>and\u00a0DJ Spinderella<\/strong> on the 1s and 2s. Their acceptance speech addressed their ongoing fight with\u00a0Universal Music Group for ownership of their master recordings.<\/p>\n \u201cAs we celebrate this moment, fans can\u2019t even stream our music … because the industry still doesn\u2019t want to play fair,”\u00a0Cheryl \u201cSalt\u201d James<\/strong>\u00a0said. \u201cSalt-N-Pepa have never been afraid of a fight. This is the Influence Award. We have to keep using our influence until the industry honors creativity the way the audience does \u2014 with love, respect and fairness.”<\/p>\n Donald Glover <\/strong>inducted Outkast into the Rock Hall and credited the duo for teaching him that \u201cyou don\u2019t have to scream, you don\u2019t have to yell. You just have to be undeniable.\u201d<\/p>\n Andr\u00e9 3000<\/strong> shed tears in an acceptance speech as he reflected on Outkast’s success. \u201cGreat things start in little rooms,” he said.<\/p>\n The Outkast reunion,\u00a0however, didn’t go beyond the speech. Instead,\u00a0Big Boi <\/strong>performed a medley of\u00a0“Ms. Jackson,” “Hey Ya!,” “The Whole World,” “ATLiens,” “The Way You Move” and “B.O.B.
