Pete Davidson returned to Saturday Night Live<\/em> during the Weekend Update to share his take on what\u2019s been dubbed \u201cthe Staten Island Ferry Fiasco.\u201d<\/p>\n In October, the New York Times<\/em> published an article<\/a> detailing Staten Island natives Davidson and Colin Jost\u2019s ill-fated decision<\/a> four years ago to purchase a decommissioned ferry boat and transform it into an event space.<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIn case you were wonder why I had to do a show in Saudi Arabia, we\u2019re losing millions on this ferry,\u201d Davidson said on SNL<\/em>, referring to his appearance at the controversial Riyadh Comedy Festival<\/a>. \u201cI assume that\u2019s what the article says; I can\u2019t spend $5 on the paywall when I have a kid on the way.\u201d<\/p>\n Davidson, father-to-be<\/a>, added, \u201cI\u2019m just excited to be a dad, and give it all the energy and enthusiasm I never had for this show.\u201d<\/p>\n Jost and Davidson then responded to the \u201cfiasco,\u201d noting that the ferry was an aquatic billboard of sorts for Nike during the recent New York City Marathon.<\/p>\n \u201cWe even gave the boat a new name. We thought \u2018the Staten Island Ferry\u2019 was too depressing so now it\u2019s called the Titanic 2,\u201d Davidson said. \u201cIf Lorne Michaels taught us anything, it\u2019s that you never, ever give up. Even if everyone says the time has come and Tina Fey is ready to take over.\u201d<\/p>\n Davidson then revealed his new grand scheme for the ferry, in the wake of Zohran Mamdani\u2019s mayoral win. \u201cI actually have a great idea to make this ferry more of a success. As you all know, we just had a mayoral election, which is my least favorite kind of oral,\u201d Davidson said.<\/p>\n \u201cSo we just had an election, and if you don\u2019t mind, I have a message for everyone who did not vote for our new mayor: Hey Staten Islanders, did you promise to move out of New York if Mamdani won, but have too many warrants in New Jersey and not enough guns for Florida?
